What did we learn this season!?!?!?!

That Loyola doesn’t just have great athletes, they really do have great coaches AND They have a great culture. My kiD is getting recruited by Loyola for a different sport, and I love the coaches and the other parents connected with it but he won’t do it. Wants to play with the kids he’s grow up with since he was 5. I feel this won’t end well in 4 years unfortunately. And we go to a very good public school.
Time to be a Dad and not his friend.

Teams who knocked out MC in the playoffs

That wasn't the Caravan losing to them in 1974, but yes Iron normally sharpens Iron....but not in South Elgins case with Barrington as they actually lost to them worse the second time then they did the first this season, but in most cases it does.
You just proved my point. Thank you. How about the Hinsdale South loss season? Weak schedule? What about Prospect? See? My point is talent matters, schedule overrated, unless you meet the talent minimum to win state. No knock on MC, just proving a point. Thanks.

Private Schools 7 - Public Schools 1. That’s a wrap!

I don’t have an issue with them. I think all Illinois high schools should play each other but, in the playoffs, there should be separate classes. I wrote something up on here a few years ago. 5 public and 3 private classes. That’s the way to go.
If they do that the Private schools should leave the IHSA & the split means no more playing each other(Public vs Private) in any sport. They did that here in Tennessee although the Private schools haven’t left the TSSAA yet but what you have is you’ll get these public schools (who cried about the private schools) winning state & saying oh we could have beat the private state champs

What did we learn this season!?!?!?!

There were many great Public/Private match up's in this years playoffs but due to the seeding they happened too early on. LA/LWE, MC/Normal, Fenwick/DGN, DePaul/Coal City, and you can't get much closer then Byron/Montini. All great games decided by 1 score that went down to the wire. Strength of Schedule needs to be factored in as Whitney Young never should have been the #1 seed in 7A.....maybe #1 seed in basketball, definitely in the Academic Decathlon, not

Edgy picked them to win the South bracket of 5a and play Naz in the championship, implies that he thought they were deserving of the #1 seed.
Had Morgan Park been the CPS rep in the Prep Bowl they would have got curb stomped by a St Ignatius team that finished 3-6 in the regular season

Private Schools 7 - Public Schools 1. That’s a wrap!

He’s a guy that doesn’t get it. Not hard to plug and play D1 kids on your team. The majority of HS coaches could have won a state title with his roster
Totally disagree. You have to set a culture and kids still need to follow and believe. Not any coach can win a state title.

Who's the best team in the state?

ESL with only loss to IMG would be 1 - then Loyola followed by MC, then LWE, then Naz, then York, then Geneva
Naz played York a few years ago and it didn’t go well. Big difference between 5A and 8A. Look at how Oswego handled JCA. Naperville Central is probably above Naz too. Could Naz have beaten Maine South? LT?

Private Schools 7 - Public Schools 1. That’s a wrap!

Here's the fix.

Enrollment is perfectly fine in classifying public schools so no need to do away with that.

We create a committee of Private school coaches/AD's. Then we take the Private playoff qualifiers and divide them into thirds. This Private committee then determines which 33% go into 8A, 7A, and 6A. For numbers not divisible by 3 the extra team(s) go into the larger class first.

Champ Champ Champ Champ for Althoff???

Hill came as a jr. played for Vashon frosh and sophomore year. When vashon football and basketball coaches was set to leave he then chose Althoff. Once he came, all others were interested. Getting him was great for Althoff.

No need to defend and enjoy your ship. There are similar stories for all the teams up north that are questioning Althoff.

For me, I wasn’t excited about them being in 1a but the team itself was legit and deserve the title. A 3a win over Montini would have been perfect. It was unfair to Lewin or any other 1a school.
Dowell and Hill came in their junior years from my understanding.

Private Schools 7 - Public Schools 1. That’s a wrap!

Here’s a proposal… all schools commit to football being no cut, then classes are determined by total players in program. If you are a smaller school, but half the boys are there to play football, that’s more important from a competitive standpoint than a larger school where only a small fraction is interested in football. Over time, if the latter programs build up, they move up.

6A championship conversation

8:30 .... DPI = dude fell. Led to first score by Taylor.

9:41 Blue defender holds legs of white receiver after the tackle on the ground.

11:00: Correct DPI call - white catches weighed flag that would have hit him in the nuts. It was funny to me.

11:10: Sure looked like a fumble and blue recovery!!!! Hips and shoulder in the process of rotating, arm was never coming forward. Likely a pick up and D TD. Led to a score.

19:00l LONG scramble (no holds...) then a very ticky tacky DPI on white.

19:53: Missed inadvertent Facemasking by blue 15.

20;25: Just a badass run by Fresh Woods!

21:40: WEAK DPI called on white.

24:00: The questionable line pick. At 24:03, the tip of the ball is on the ground and there is no possession. Jack's reaction on the broadcast was infuriating, like, Oh Well - let them have it.

27:10: Artagus looking good in his orange coat!!!!
The PI at 19:00 was on Geneva. Still kinda soft though and not much contact.
