Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley junior athlete recruit Owen Piche (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) has added several new offers yet two in particular has caught his attention.
"My last four offers are from Army. Navy, Toledo and Western Michigan," Piche said. "I have 10 offers now and it's pretty exciting. The offers from both Navy and Army are pretty exciting and I plan to go visit both schools on May 13th and May 14th."
Piche talked about his thoughts on his offers from Navy and Army.
"I've always been interested in the service academies. I have two uncles who are Marines and my Grandpa was in the Navy. I always wanted to be a Navy Seal and that was a dream of mine for years. I've been very pro-active with Navy in my recruiting process and it's a great feeling to have an offer from Navy."
"Army came in and offered me a few days after Navy offered me. I would also consider playing at West Point if I was offered the chance so I'm planning to visit both Annapolis and West Point. I'm looking forward to just seeing each academy in person and just getting to learn more about the whole process of attending a service academy."
Piche for now is in no hurry to make a college decision.
"I'm really not in any rush to make a decision or narrow anything down for now. I haven't made any visits latest. I just took the ACT last week and I've also been focused pretty hard on school these days. Besides Navy and Army I don't have any visit set for now."
Piche also doesn't have a time frame for making his college choice.
"Again I'm not in any hurry for now."
EDGY's Thoughts on Owen Piche Recruiting: No question a bit of a surprise with Piche's attraction to Navy and Army but when a kid has that feel for service and military it's never a huge shocker. Piche no question is very intrigued with both Navy and Army, yet I also see more larger level offers that could come for Piche which could make things more complicated for him. The whole acceptance process for the service academies is also a longer ordeal. My guess is the longer Piche holds out on a decision the better the chance for a Navy or Army potential commitment.
