Teams with most Returning Starters

OPRF just dominated the wrestling scene for a couple seasons and then poof....they were gone! IC has now come out of nowhere and has an elite wrestling team that just won the Catholic League Tournament
Yes. They have a strong connection to Izzy Martinez, who although not a coach, is very involved in the development of the IC wrestling program. Nothing, other than maybe CPS basketball, comes close to the recruiting and connections that happen with wrestling. The top programs are always going to be private schools. IC, Marmion, Marist, MC, Joliet Catholic, Montini, Providence. You still have some solid homegrown public schools like Sandburg, Washington, Lincoln Ways, and now Hononegah, but for those schools to compete with the private schools in wrestling is near impossible. Yes St. Charles East won it a few years ago, but that was also built by move-ins of elite D1 wrestlers. They are good this year but not top to bottom like they were the last couple of years.

Moving is not required within a 30 mile radius at a private. Maybe to play the very next year not sure. No matter what you would have to move to play at another public school.
Yes moving is required within a 30 mile radius. It’s the same damn rules

Yes you do have to move. My son went from public to private this past season
No you do not. Just declare financial hardship.

We had a parent one year worried that the local private school would protest that as they offered to cut the kids tuition in half if he stayed 😄

It is my understanding the Public to Private transfers are allowed due to moving residences or academic needs. To go from Private to Public would just require a financial hardship statement. I do not think you can justify transferring to a Private school from a Public school because of financial hardship.

You may have moved. But moving, or getting a new address, is not required to go from public to private.

How do you claim financial hardship when you’re taking on tuition?

That is not what I said. I only made the point that moving is not required to transfer from public to private. I know multiple kids who are at Althoff now who went to SWC schools last year (no. none of them played football)

I do believe LWE has now attained the ranking of a private school in the eyes of all the posters on this thread. So be it. Please include the situations that arise with the new College rules and emphasis on NIL deals for all recruiting and grandiose promises from programs as well. What you are seeing and will see in the future are attempts to promote your athlete to attain the best “deal”. Nothing new here just moving down the ranks to maneuver the potential stud athlete to be recruited to a university. It has been an old tradition in AAU, Travel sports and private schools have used. What is new? Now with public schools at the high school level you all want to lose your minds? Let’s be real and be honest it’s and old game that has been seen before as young as 5th graders. Loyalty is for old folks, ask the NBA for the handbook to sports. NIL is here to stay, just not necessarily as it exists today.

I will speak for myself and no one else, my issue with LWIMG is that for years they have shoveled the BS that they are homegrown. That they do it differently, that they do it right. While the fact is they dont, and they havent. And yes with the way college is, it has a trickle down impact, more teams are recruiting more teams are bending rules. So be it. But the LWIMG faithful will continue to shovel the narrative that they don’t when everybody knows the truth. Its okay to be a Wolf but dont tell everyone your a sheep.

Not the vibes I get. I don't believe people are losing their minds over lwe new transfer activities. For the most part we all get it. There is just a very small, vocal minority that believes lwe does not and has not recruited players.

Just curious as to what South Suburban Public School a 4Star Sophomore studs parent/s would chose to attend to get “exposure” for their son? I’ll start with Homewood-Flossmoor. Thoughts? I don’t think there are many out there. Agreed jha618 as well on your take.

Love it that the comparison is made to IMG after 2-3 new arrivals in the last year are a reflection of how 24 years of a schools programs existence from the ground up is developed. Nicely done. You failed to give credit to the LWE QB transfer that led Marist to success this last year?

The only pure thing about high school football is the love in the hearts of its fans, and in the players' love for the game.
While I'm a romantic at heart and very nostalgic, what love of the game do the players have if it's all about transferring and the most they can get through NIL?
