I was there as well. I knew the Sutton family pretty well! I think Danny Sutton was one of the wings. Kid had wheels!
Yes, him and Tom Eanes were the two starters. Jamey Silvera got some significant time as well
Yes. They have a strong connection to Izzy Martinez, who although not a coach, is very involved in the development of the IC wrestling program. Nothing, other than maybe CPS basketball, comes close to the recruiting and connections that happen with wrestling. The top programs are always going to be private schools. IC, Marmion, Marist, MC, Joliet Catholic, Montini, Providence. You still have some solid homegrown public schools like Sandburg, Washington, Lincoln Ways, and now Hononegah, but for those schools to compete with the private schools in wrestling is near impossible. Yes St. Charles East won it a few years ago, but that was also built by move-ins of elite D1 wrestlers. They are good this year but not top to bottom like they were the last couple of years.

If you’re going to a private you don’t have to move unless you are outside the 30 mile radius.

We had a parent one year worried that the local private school would protest that as they offered to cut the kids tuition in half if he stayed 😄
It is my understanding the Public to Private transfers are allowed due to moving residences or academic needs. To go from Private to Public would just require a financial hardship statement. I do not think you can justify transferring to a Private school from a Public school because of financial hardship.
You may have moved. But moving, or getting a new address, is not required to go from public to private.
You don't technically have to move. You can also claim a change in family status, living situation etc.
