New Restrictions For Will & Kankakee Counties

Covid spots after 11pm. It stops once you hit a 25 person limit or 25% capacity limit. It won't stop with 26 people or 26%, just 25. Covid won't spread if you seat 100 people outdoors in a tent, but it definitely would spread if those 100 were seated inside the restaurant 10 feet from the outside tent.

Seriously I hope a majority of businesses and restaurants do what they need to do and defy this. Just go about your business until you get a court order to shut down. Where is the science is any of this?

Not sure why restaurants are targeted when you touch more stuff (that others have touched) and come in contact with more people at Walmart than anywhere else. A deathblow to the industry- more people will now be laid off.

My concern is we aren't a warm weather state so how will restaurants survive when October/ November arrive and sitting outside isn't feasible?

Many won't survive. It's a cruel joke now. Certainly not about safety or actual scientific data to make these decisions. I can go and sit in a casino until 11pm, but I can't go and sit in a restaurant until 11pm? Praying more people wake up to this and revolt or defy.

Hot take: it's worth noting not ONE business has been forced to permanently close by the state since this all began in March. Many have gotten stern "warnings"/citations from the state, but not one court order has been issued to a business in the entire state to close shop. And they won't do that either. People just need to do what they need to do to provide for their families and the families they employ. They aren't going to go through the hassle of getting court orders and then fighting in court to make sure all these businesses close up.

My wife and I were at the Farmer's Market in Frankfort on Sunday. You had dozens of people there touching all the produce. It was like, "pandemic? What pandemic?" This whole thing has become a joke and has been handled in this state so poorly. I find it very hard to believe Will and Kankakee counties have a higher positive test rate than Chicago. Very hard to believe. I don't trust anything the Chubby Guy says and none of the data he provides.

You know what? What's to stop people in Will County from simply driving over to Grundy, Kane, Cook and Du Page counties to sit in a bar or restaurant? Nothing. People aren't going to just change their habits. This hurts the business owners. That dude is itching to shut this state down again.

I hope Plainfield shuts down a couple of side streets, puts up some big tents and continues to thrive.

Starting Wednesday... restaurants and bars being shut down again. Make sure you eat out tomorrow to support the small business owners in this industry. Many will not be coming back after this.

If my memory serves, I believe you are a small business owner. So am I. But I am fortunate to be in an industry that hasn't been harmed as much as others. Many times I have thought of expanding my operations to another state to gradually move out of Illinois. In July I opened operations in another state. It has gone surprisingly well. Better than I expected. I can do at least 85% of my business online and 100% of the out-of-state business online. So, I don't have to travel to any other state unless I want to.

I was going to wait until retirement to move out. But, if all goes well in the other state I am going to open business in more states. I get paid online anyway so I can live where I want. I have to be licensed in these states to do business there. But the fee is low.

I don't feel like I want to wait to leave. And why wait? Tomorrow is promised to no one.

I do like Oswego too. The Fox river that runs through it is a hell of a lot cleaner than the two canals we have in Lockport! :(
The river is nice, but the Village doesn't take advantage of it. They are starting to build down there and there are a few staples of the Downtown that are nice, but they have lacked vision for a long time. Too many hoops to jump through for those trying to start businesses down there. Macy Brooks tried to open a wine-bar down there and they just made it impossible and they need more dining options. Those will likely come once the two buildings under construction are completed. That being said, it's all about 10 years too late.

I never knew Plainfield had a downtown. Somehow I've avoided it but Rte 59.

DT Plainfield is one of the best downtown areas around. It's what Oswego should be.
Last Tuesday was the weekly Cruise Night in downtown Plainfield. The weather was perfect, all the restaurants had outdoor dining, and Lockport street was packed with classic cars and people. Hoping it's still on for tonight! It is one of the best car shows around.

I picked up a gift card down there a couple Saturdays ago and it was alive an well. The wine and cheese shop (with Craft brew options) next to Capri is a great spot for the car show.

LTHSALUM76... you have a great memory! I am in the Wedding Services Industry and 2020 has been completely disastrous. Every wedding reception since March has been either cancelled or postponed to 2021. The wedding season in northern Illinois runs from April to October. The year is lost. I will lose $30k this year. First loss in 40 years. I 1099 my staff so, they are not considered employees, thus I do not qualify for some of the Government loans. I did receive a $1,000 grant, however!! We had a small event (non-wedding) scheduled for this Friday in Will County, but fatso just blew that up too.

Yeah, they were one of the first. Plainfield really hasn't had to, but if indoor seating is removed, it would be nice to extend the outdoor seating while you still can.

It is especially disgusting when we learn the Chubby Guy treats some parts the state differently than others. Gee, imagine that! He should first start getting into the habit of pushing the damned plate away.

I have family who have put off weddings till 2021. You are in a very tough business. I would like to say things will get better. But with all the conflicting information out there, who the hell knows?

Exactly, it takes me literally 10 seconds to walk from my backyard in Will County to get to my neighbors backyard in Grundy County.
