This makes sense. It is keeping a kid off the US Women's National Team's development U16 team so she can remain eligible for New Trier.


Down here in the south, little Izzy Dalke (a Gomric offspring) only plays club so she can play on the same USWNT development team.

It would be a net negative overall. We would just see AAU tackle football teams competing for players in the fall. But there should be exceptions carved out.

A lot of girls soccer players on the high end don't play HS ball. It doesn't lineup with the college season so they just play travel instead

Without specific language....travel/outside organizations will take over even more than they have. These outside travel/leagues shouldn't run simultaneously as the high school seasons. If the thought is that a kid will do both....you're dilusional. This will especially create conflict in girls sports where many girls are one sport athletes. Many high school girls sports will get abolished......and due to Title IX would force schools to rid boy sports. Say good bye to girls soccer, and girls volleyball in high school.

That is true of boys' soccer too. In addition sports like volleyball, gymnastics, swimming and tennis have some elite (and some who think they are elite) just playing travel and not playing high school.

If she was playing for the u16 National
Team, it would be allowed. Representing your country has been an exception for 40 years. She was selected to play in a showcase event. That has always been against IHSA rules for some reason.
