NCC had easily one of it's biggest and best camps on Thursday night...they had just under 400 kids and the camp also featured coaches from Missouri, WMU, Wyoming, Iowa State and several FCS level schools....I believe it was 19 schools represented and several had multiple staff in attendance.
So for this camp I'm going to list what I call "eye catchers" as opposed to the previous breakdowns. Why? Again it's nearly impossible to track down and get any sort of quality looks for so many kids..so I'm forgoing several "known" or more "familiar" names at the camp (again unless they caught my eye with a strong performance etc) instead focusing on kids that I've either not seen before or had seen very little of up until this camp.
Class of 2019
WR Caleb Beebe Aurora Christian 2019- Hadn't seen Caleb in person until this camp. Really strong kid with good hands and runs really good routes. Vert fluid in drills and is yet another Bebee who has game.
RB Kyle Davis Mount Carmel 2019- gave WMU a verbal commitment last night....and it was easy to see why. Really good sized kid who ran well in the 40, has the look and feel to me of former Andrew and WMU RB Jarvion Franklin.
TE Jake Johnson Wheaton North 2019- Wheaton North always seems to have these big, tall and lanky kids every year. Johnson, along with WR Jacob Seacrist has good size and length and also showed good hands as well. Both Johnson and Seacrist are definite names to watch this summer and fall.
DB Jayshon Means Bro Rice 2018- lean yet lanky and quick defender who I saw a while ago at a Boom event. Didn't see a ton of one on ones but in drills he was pretty impressive.
RB KeVon Robinson York 2019- Good sized kid looked athletic and quick in positional drill work here.
DL Fred Stokes Montini 2019- another good sized kid here on the hoof. Sadly didn't get to see much in one on ones but will no question watch a bit more this fall.
LB Zane Heemsoth York 2019- Maybe the best of the eye openers. Worked out at LB then was asked to move over to play some DL towards the tail end of the camp. Really good size and strong kid with a ton of athletic skills and upside. Could very well develop into a rush DE at the D1 level.
OL Luke Hallstrom Naperville Central- Was outstanding for the second straight day. Is a pure OC who has terrific power, lower body strength along with really good feet, hands and balance. Should have MAC level offers by now in my opinion.
OL Addison West Cary-Grove 2019- Hadn't seen Addison since the winter. Was one of say 4-5 really strong interior OL here and always brings a bit of a nasty streak to one on ones.
OL Alex Westendorf St. Charles North- Hadn't seen Westendorf in a while so this was a good chance to get caught up. Overall more than held his own in one on ones and showed some pretty good overall athletic skills in drill and positional work. More athletic than I remembered on video for sure.
WR Charlie Hamilton SHG 2019- Bigger and a bit longer than I remembered. Has very good hands and showed decent speed and quickness her as well. Big sized target who will no question have a big year for the Cyclones this fall.
DE Jordan Lawrence Normal Community 2019- Kid I saw at the Rivals combine has done a lot since that chance. Very good motor, runs well and will add more size and strength at the next level. Has a chance to develop into a high FCS level player.
WR Deangelo Hardy Lakes 2019- really impressive athlete type. Didn't get to watch as much of Hardy as I wanted but overall looks the part and also runs very well and had to of been one of the fastest 40's at this camp.
DL Patrick Ross Hope Academy 2019- Hope has some talented kids and while I';ve seen the skills all over the place this off season not so much for Ross. Ross has good size and for me is a bit of a tweener positionally between DT or DE. Plays with a high motor, can get physical when needed and has some real upside.
DE/OLB Isaac Moore Lake Park 2019- checked in at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds and was put with the DE's group. Was nasty coming off the edge and caused havoc all night long in one on ones. Will be more of a OLB I feel at the college level but Moore's overall speed and athleticism caught more than a few college coaches attention.
DB Kendric Nowling Marist 2019- terrific size and fame and just looks the part. Looks more like an OLB at the next level and was drawing ons of attention here.
OL Alex Parades Bolingbrook 2019- Alex has been on my radar for a while now...and has been on a really good path since the end of his junior season. Parades has FCS to lower FBS abilities and tools and was no question a very solid performer here.
DE Kenny Givens Hubbard 2019- only time I've seen Kenny was at the Rivals camp. Was a bit hesitant back them but came out here and balled. Checked in at 6-foot-3 245 and has very good speed and quickness and is also kid with some real upside physically.
Class of 2020
OL Sean Carpenter Fenwick 2020- Impressive kid on the hoof (6-foot-4, 260 pounds) who was able to step in and get some decent reps in one on ones. Will add much more size and strength over the next year plus.
OL Payton Collins Lockport 2020- another good looking linemen on the hoof (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) who will also get bigger and stronger down the line. Wasn't shy in one on ones...took a few L's but got better last night no question.
WR Kyel Grover Morgan Park 2020- Big long and lanky receiver (6-foot-4, 183 pounds) who has an enormous wingspan and who showed some real flashes here.
OL Mike McGivney Benet Academy 2020- Saw McGivney at one of my winter showcase camps. Still has a babyface and plenty of growing and work to do...yet showed some really good things here,. Needs to improve his overall speed and quickness a bit yet has a ton of upside as well.
OL Wes Hines SHG 2020- really competed hard with the first group in One on Ones. Lost a contact (which I held for him for most of the one on ones lol) yet still went in and battles. Has good size. length and reach and will get bigger and stronger down the line.
WR Nate Muersch Montini Catholic 2020- More of a TE sized kid here at 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds. Ran well and has decent ball skills and hands as well. Will definitely watch this kid closer this remaining summer and fall.
TE Austin Fredricks Metea Valley 2020- another TE sized kid at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Showed good hands in drill work. Will need to improve his overall speed but also has huge potential and upside as well.
DL Kwame Achampong St. Patrick 2020- has good size and is a definite eyeball passer. Needs to improve his overall speed/quickness a bit for DL yet has a good overall skill set and upside. Wouldn't be stunned to see schools try Kwame at OL as well.
OL Isaac Ruder Bishop McNamara 2020- second straight night seeing Ruder and the second straight night he's VERY intriguing. Great size at nearly 6-foot-7, 260 pounds who can also mkove a bit for a big kid.
Class of 2021/2022
OL Corey Krueger St. Charles North 2021- It just seemed that one gigantic kid after another came from St. Charles North here. Krueger still has a ton of growth and development left but...at 6-foot-4, 302 already....damn.
OL Ian Erickson St. Charles North 2021- See above...excepr Erickson checked in at 6-foot-5, 268 pounds. Double damn...
LB Zachary McClure St. Charles North 2021- another great looking kid on the hoof here (6-foot-2, 196 pounds). Needs to improve his straight line speed a bit but...keep an eye or two on this kid.
QB Kaden Cobb Fenwick 2022- Not the first time seeing Cobb...let's just say that as a freshman at 6-foot-2, 172 pounds already....his overall upside is enormous.
OL/DL John Walsh Fremd 2021- another good sized kid (6-foot-3, 257 pounds) who saw varsity time last fall. Will get bigger and strong down the line.
OL Benjamin Lubeley Jacobs 2021- Another big kid for his age (6-foot-3, 240 pounds) who will continue to grow and add weight and size.
TE Cater Evans Prairie Ridge 2021- Younger brother of Superman (did Superman have a brother? Nerds help me out here?). Has a bit more height than Superman already (6-foot-32, 195 pounds) and is also a very solid all around athlete. I feel that Carter could wind up being eventually size wise between his older brother Shane and Superman.
WR Dino Kaliakmanis Antioch 2021- brother of QB Atthan who at times seems to get a bit overshadowed and that's wrong. Dino has big time game and tools who also could become a pretty high level WR/S.
