My impressions of Joacheim Price: I have yet to see/meet Joacheim Price in person and I have yet to watch Price play live. Price, who started playing organized football just over a year ago after being a starter for the Golden Eagles basketball team has already drawn several FBS level offers along with increased attention from several Power 5 schools this winter.
Evaluation of Joacheim Price: Price has tremendous size, length and wingspan and after watching his junior video it's pretty easy to see why several schools have either already extended a scholarship offer or are in the process of offering Price this winter. Price, who looks to be every bit of his listed 6-foot-8 and 310 pounds shows to have decent feet/balance and mobility for a kid his size. Price also has seemed to learn quite a bit when it comes to the offensive line position in less than a year's time. Price also is able to show his considerable reach and length when it comes to his pass pro abilities. Price looks more than capable of catching up to the outside speed rusher when asked while also having the ability to run block and get to the second level. Price admittedly still has a ton of work ahead of him, yet taking into account his overall size, sheer physical tools, mobility and athletic skills Price will be playing at a very high level on Saturday's in college.
Questions or possible room for improvement for Joacheim Price? Price as mentioned has played football for a very short period of time and has a ton of work still to do. Price will need to improve using his hands better along with continued work on his technique in both the run game and in pass pro. Price can at times just smother opposing defenders at the high school level which won't happen in college. Price will also need to cut/convert a bit more weight into muscle for the next level.
Projected level:
Rivals.com has Price currently ranked as a lower to mid 3 star name which admittedly is an early. safe ranking.
Price I feel could be one of the most intriguing names in this Class of 2019 on several levels. Price has great size/width, length and overall huge upside potentially. Yet unlike a lot of other kids at the wait and see phase....Price's growth and upside is more technical as opposed to physical. Huh? Price already has the size/look of a Power 5 offensive tackle...but now needs to get his overall game up to a potential Power 5 offensive tackle level. I'm also very gun shy about ranking any kid I don't see live/on the hoof anything higher than say a mid 3 star...yet I feel Price based off of his video, huge upside and potential down the line would be an upper 3 star to start and could easily progress from a low to mid 3 star to a mid to upper 4 star over the next 12 plus months.
Price again has those rare physical tools and size that seems to be missing again in the Class of 2019 in Illinois...which is a true no question about it ready made physically Power 5 level offensive tackle body. Depending upon the overall depth of the OT class in the Midwest and beyond...Price has a chance to end up drawing major Power 5 offers this spring and summer.
