There will be some 4-5 teams in the field. Barrington if they win (Fremd) Oak Park. This will change the bracket. Look for about 6-8 4-5 teams making the playoffs this year,

For that to happen...

*Glenbard East and Andrew would have to drop to 7a first (smaller than PN).

*Two bubble teams would have to lose... Conant (4-4) plays Schaumburg (3-5), Rich Twp. (4-4) plays Leo (2-6), Belleville E. (4-4) plays Granite City (1-7). If Joliet West (4-4) upsets Plainfield South (5-3), that would help as well. There is a good chance Conant could lose, they have lost four straight.

*Projections based on assumption that no 8a 4-5 teams make the playoffs.

I’m personally rooting for the Caravan next Saturday, since I’m a Carmelite alum (Carmel Catholic), but selfishly I want a Griffins/Ramblers 8A final, so LA #1 and LWE #2 would suit my preference just fine.

I’m just glad LA didn’t win 83-0 yesterday.

Those were some strong emotions from LA fans in a different post. A select few, albeit.

This is HS football do not just assume LA & LWE will play in 8A Finals. There are some pretty good teams that could give both a challenge under the right conditions. It is not like LA & LWE have not shown a few kinks. Once again this is HS Football with young athletes playing leading roles. Every take on film is not perfect. Stay tuned !

Totally agree with you Micahjones. This is high school football so anything can happen and yes their is no team I see that’s unbeatable. That said I don’t see East or LA losing to Warren. IMO both East & LA are to well rounded for Warren who hasn’t proven to beat teams that have balance. I also believe East & LA have the two best coaches in 8A if not the entire state. This is in no way a slam against Warren who have an excellent program/team but just haven’t yet risen to the level of these two powers.

Coaches watch film .. . There are other solid coach's that can game plan. Teams will take your best player away in playoffs. .... so teams with multiple threat athletes can cause any team problems. But I accept your logic. Keep in mind neither team has won 8A title every year. I am still a 🎢 supporter until they are out. I love the board because everyone can be an analyst.

Your right. I guess since your such a loud supporter of Warren that I jumped to that conclusion. I stand by my opinion about LWE & LA. Their programs play at another level and they do have two of the best coaches in Illinois.
Their records year in and year out have proven this along with their success in championship games. Yes other teams can win state that’s the reason we have playoffs. Anything can happen. I could be wrong about Warren and others this year. I only gave you my opinion based on what I have seen so far this year. It’s all good we will find out soon enough.😊

When you lose QB1 to injury, QB2 moves out of state and QB3
hasn’t thrown since sophomore season it gets rough! MS still will be a tough out but we definitely haven’t reached the level of play possible. Maybe waiting for the playoffs?!?!? IDK I hope so.
