Bears

Sure seems like Poles' was given a mandate to win now. They should be in a position now to take the best available player at 10, regardless of position. I'd still like to see them stick with both lines. RB seems like a likelihood with one of their top 3 picks. Wonder if TE is a possibility early too.

I think Jeanty and Warren are on the table. I think a trade back may potentially happen now as well. Potentially putting Emmanwori or a corner on the table

Draft top level OL to groom with the vets. This is the year to shore up the line. . LSU guy or Mizzo guy. There are plenty of RB and Receivers in the later rounds.
Unless there is something you cannot pass on, if the offer to trade back presents itself I think you take it and add the pick(s).
That is my opinion but I will not be upset if they take D or O line with 10 if they keep it. I think the kid from North Dakota State would be a perfect later rd 1 OL to draft...if he is there.

You don't draft an OL to "groom" him at 10. Anyone taken in the top 10 will be expected to start day 1. They aren't wasting on a top 10 pick on someone they need to develop. If there's an OL they like but isn't as polished as they'd like then that's where you trade back and get him later plus more picks. For example the NDSU kid that SIU mentioned.

I'm currently happy with the OT talent. So much so I think we could grab one with a second round pick

Very happy with Dalman, been a long time since we had a top center like Kruetz. He was the #1 FA center. I obviously like Jarret, wasn't expecting him, is he going to be the dominant force he once was? Probably not but he's a huge upgrade over what we had and from every report a outstanding leader and fan favorite. I'm not really happy the DE from Indy who's name I won't try to spell. He's an upgrade yes, but his stats aren't really exciting, but I'm told his style of play is what Allen is looking for so again, an upgrade of what we had. I give them a solid B+ on the day.

I really like the Dayo signing. Will turn 26 during the season so he's still young and at 6'6", 285 lbs. I love his size. He also hasn't missed a game in 3 years. He should be a great compliment to Sweat.

Groom maybe wrong word. I want a top tier kid that will start and can still learn from these FA pro bowl guys. Ready or not the NFL is different. We went into the FA and draft to fix the line. Stay the course and finish the job by getting a young stud that will be here a while. From what I see we need another starter on the OL.

So, if they draft a top tier kid that can start which pro bowl free agent that they just spent millions on are you sitting on the bench?

Yes, the #1 priority was shoring up the OL. specifically IOL, during the offseason. The beauty of what they have done so far is they used trades and FA. Add in the fact that they shored up the #2 biggest need, DL, during FA. Now you have 3 top 50 picks with one of them being #10 with your top two needs taken care of. They have so much flexibility now. Now if you don't like B.Jones at LT that is your opinion and I respect it but I think he will "seem" much better with a very solid IOL now. I said "seem" because he wasn't the issue last year.

Edit: I missed you saying we need a LT.

We still have a tackle spot open unless you think Jones is a starter. I view him as a backup.
I don't see Jones as a starter either. I do like the flexibility the Bears now have in the draft, as SIU alluded to above. No idea what direction they will go in. I'd like to see them trade back from #10 and accumulate more picks. They need to start getting some young guys (Olinemen) in the pipeline to groom. And they could get quality Olinemen, a RB and a TE later in this draft. Not sure anyone would want to give up much to move up to #10, though.

I think they underlaying point is they put themselves in the envious position of not having to draft a certain position, obviously there are spots to fill but you understand the point. If they get something that falls and they can't pass up that value they can jump on it or trade and acquire more assets.

Regarding Jones, I think they are counting on having a stronger OL unit that will make him better. When the overall unit is strong you can help much easier when there is a menace of a pass rusher etc. Sure, we can find video of Jones missing blocks but what I saw was Caleb never being able to step up if he felt pressure from the outside. If Jones is the weakest of the OL I think they are in good shape.
