Belleville East senior OL/DL Jomathan Rulo has been the Lancers top player and recruit for the past few seasons. Rulo, who is also a state champion heavyweight wrestler is verbally committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats and Rulo possesses impressive strength, quickness and a non stop motor.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch for Belleville East? Keep an eye on Belleville East junior WR James Johnson who is a good size and physical receiver who possesses impressive hands and always seems tho run through the initial tackle and adds up big yards after the catch.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Belleville East Lancers
Belleville East and head coach Michael Harrison has got the Lancers into the IHSA Class 8A state playoff field in back to back to back years, and the Lancers look ready to make another strong run this coming season in my opinion. Harrison has posted a 27-28 record in 6 seasons at Belleville East and this program is definitely trending upwards. East welcomes back a ton of experienced starters including 8 on offense and 8 on defense and the offense looks to have some speed and big play ability this summer. I'm looking for the Lancers to again be a state playoff caliber team in 2025.
The biggest question facing Belleville East this summer?
Can the Lancers take the next few big steps as a program starting this season? Next steps? Belleville East has really improved over the last handful of seasons and seem to be ready to make another solid run this fall. The next few steps in my opinion is playing strong against the elite level teams in the Southwestern (East Side/Edwardsville) then making a deeper playoff run in 8A. I have no doubt that Belleville East is trending in thr right direction and is a nice name to watch for a sleeper type of team in 8A in 2025.
