My Take: St Charles East 2024 3 star OT Bodey McCaskin to Iowa

Today St Charles East 2024 3 star ranked OT Bodey McCaslin gave Iowa his verbal commitment. McCaslin was seeing his overall recruiting stock tide this early spring and was able to chose Iowa over offers and interest from the likes of Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Penn State, Purdue, Minnesota, Nebraska and several others. McCaslin is a long and lanky kid who I feel has a ton of upside growth ahead of him especially in the strength and weight department. McCaslin, who is also a multi sport athlete I feel has the idea frame to grow and get stronger at the college level relatively fast. McCaslin, who is the son of current Benedictine University HC Brad McCaslin is a coaches son, and in my opinion is nothing but a positive for the Hawkeyes here.

Bodey McCaslin and his siblings (older brother plays at NDSU and his sister id a D1 level athlete as well) have grown up and around football all of their lives. Bodey McCaslin already has an advanced education in what is really involved in football on a day to day basics along with the good and the not so good that comes along with seeing so much behind the scenes. Brad McCaslin has coached all over the country, was an assistant coach at stops such as Eastern Michigan, Drake and Buffalo and he's no question also worked quite a bit with his son on his game and overall technique.

Bodey McCaslin off the field is just a terrific young man, well mannered and a very respectful kid. He's an intelligent, well spoken athlete who is also a very strong student in the classroom.

Rivals currently has McCaslin ranked as a mid three star recruit in the Class of 2024 and the 15th top player in the State of Illinois Class of 2024. In all honesty, I have felt McCaskin has been under ranked since very early on. I've seen McCaslin live a handful of times in camps and also saw him play live as a sophomore on the varsity level at East. McCaslin I feel has everything you are looking for in an offensive tackle including great length, reach and very good feet. He's a quick fluid athlete who also just understands bend and leverage and is also just well schooled from an overall technique. The main knock on him I saw very early on was wondering if he could indeed add more good weight and strength and that's been answered. I see McCaslin as a kid who will continue to progress, imprve and just get better. Again I'm not sure if he will be an immediate out of the box starter and impact player.....especially at a program as Iowa known for generating such tremendous linemen so from a rankings standpoint I get that line of thought.

Yet from a bigger picture/down the line perspective....I can see McCaslin grow and develop into a potential All Big ten name and someone who will have a much bigger impact on the field for the Hawkeyes from the middle to end of his college career compared to being an impact player right away.

I had McCaslin ranked as a low to mid 4 star recruit from very early on and I'll stand by that ranking.

Impact Player for Hillcrest:

Hillcrest will welcome back a nice core of returning starters on both sides of the football in 2023 and a handful of seniors will be absolute key names to watch. Senior WR Cameran Banks is a key receiver and a big time play makers for Hillcrest this season. Senior DB Jovan Williams is another speedy and experienced starter and a leader in the Hillcrest defense. The Hawks also have a handful of interesting underclassmen names to watch in 2023 in sophomore DL McHale Blade and sophomore OL Jazzari Jackson.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Hillcrest Hawks:

Hillcrest and head coach Kyran Weaver was able to maneuver the Hawks always stacked schedule to get the program into the 2022 IHSA state playoff field for the sixth straight season. Hillcrest posted a 5-4 record and lost to Rockford Boylan in Round 1 action to end the season.

The biggest question I see for Hillcrest in 2023 is can they again get wins against a pretty solid schedule and also can they overtake a handful of yearly powers in the South Suburban Blue including traditional power Lemont? The Hawks always have speed and talent in the building and I look for this team to take another stride forward this coming fall and to wind up as say post a 7-2/6-3 record this fall.

Update: What's the latest with JCA DT Dillan Johnson?

Joliet (Ill.) Catholic junior defensive tackle recruit Dillan Johnson (6-foot-2, 270 pounds) has cntinued to see his recruiting stock surge in not just football but wrestling as well. So what's next for Dillan Johnson and his recruiting process this spring and then heading into the summer?

"Right now it's all about just getting in the weight room. lifting and training. Football is my main focus right now and I just want to keep getting in great sghpae and get more ready for the football season."

Johnson also discussed what's next for him and his recruiting process this spring and beyond.

"I'm in the process right now with my family on setting up some official visits in both football and wrestling. I'm going to be making official visits in later May and also in June. I know that the NCAA is allowing unlimited official visits now but I'm still thinking about setting up just 5 official visits total. I don't have any dates set yet and we aren' ready to announce which schools I'm going to visit for now, but we will pretty soon."

Does Johnson have a time frame for making a college decision?

"I still want to have everything done and wrapped up this summer. I definitely want to be done before the start of my senior season."

So what factors will be important to Johnson when he begins to make his official visits?

"Definitely what kind of defense does that school run and how do they see me fitting into that defense. I'm also looking for schools that offer a strong Business program and offer a great education and job placement. I'm also looking at which school can make me the best player and the best person I can be. Overall distance isn't really a factor for me."

Dillan Johnson has multiple scholarship offers.

My Take on Dillan Johnson recruiting: Dillan has really started to lock in on narrowing things down and was no question very close to the vest on which schools will get an official visit for now. In all honesty, I really couldn't give you an idea of which schools he's leaning to right now. He's added so many offers recently including offers for wrestling as well....and I'm also not certain that Dillan will go for strictly football in college. Johnson is a terrific wrestler and loves the sport....and at least for now I would not count out wrestling as a factor in his visit plans. Te next 30-60 days will give us a lot of answers on Dillan Johnson recruiting process.

Mercer County to the TRAC

Mercer County's school board has approved a move to the TRAC for 2024-25. This is a big help for a few conferences:

- Mercer County is in the Lincoln Trail/Prairieland merger, which currently has 17 and will now be able to get down to 16, making things much more reasonable.
- Mercer County will now join the TRAC and get them back to 14 teams after a year of 13 teams since St. Bede left.

It's also good for Mercer County to get back some of their old rivalries against Sherrard, Orion, and especially Rockridge.
I cannot imagine Mercer County joining the TRAC East (I refuse to use the stupid Mississippi/Rock division names), so I would assume they will take the simplest way out and just move Morrison to the east. It will allow them to get back to solely conference games for everyone. It also helps fill a hole between Monmouth-Roseville and everyone else. Assuming this change, we have the following new divisions:
West - Monmouth-Roseville, Mercer County, Orion, Sherrard, Rockridge, Riverdale, Erie/Prophetstown
East - Morrison, Newman, Kewanee, Princeton, Mendota, Hall, Bureau Valley

All told, this is a good thing for both the TRAC and Mercer County.

It is a very bad sign for Alleman, who is not playing in the Western Big Six this fall. Signs are not positive for that program to get reasonably competitive in the Western Big Six ever again and a move to the TRAC would have seemed to be a way to salvage their program. Now that that will almost certainly not happen, it seems like Alleman's options (again, discounting a radical increase in enrollment and competitive level, which I do) are either to apply to the NUIC as by far the southernmost team, try to stake out some sort of independent schedule, or play 8-man.

EDGYTIM Class of 2024/2025/2026

Quarterbacks

QB Alessio Milivojevic St. Francis 6-foot-2, 200 pounds 2024- Is holding a handful of offers this spring. Will Alessio make a spring commitment?

QB Diego Gutierrez Riverside Brookfield 5-foot-11. 175 pounds 2024- Steady and consistently good signal caller who's added more weight and strength this off season.

QB Michael Champagne Glenbard South 2024 5-foot-9, 150 pounds 2024- Highly effective passer over the past two seasons. Will draw D2/NAIA interest along with some higher level PWO looks as well this summer.

QB/ATH Marcus Brown Brother Rice 2024 6-foot-0, 180 pounds 2024- Athletic playmaker who's in search of more reps and looks this spring and summer.

QB Robert “Pops” Battle East St. Louis 5-foot-11, 180 pounds 2024- One of the state's most productive quarterbacks in what at least the last decade? Another 2024 signal caller I feel that's getting slow played so far by schools.. I can see Pops fitting in well at the FCS level in college.

QB Arthur Palicki Willowbrook 6-foot-4, 215 pounds 2024- Looks the part and no question passes every eyeball test. Schools want to see Palicki throw this spring and summer and I can see him getting say PWO looks at the higher D1 level.

QB/ATH Nacari McFarland Chicago Kenwood 6-foot-4, 180 pounds- One of the most intriging names still available here. McFarland has a big arm, is a talented all around athlete but he's also struggled staying healthy the last two seasons.

QB Ryan Boe Batavia 6-foot-3, 205 pounds 2024- Another name who just looks to have alot to offer including good size, overall tools and ability. Are schools missing out or are they slow playing Boe and hoping to land him via the PWO route? I feel Bow has FCS/D2 tools and ability.

QB Troyer Carlson Kaneland 6-foot-2, 175 pounds 2024-Another productive passer here who just hasn't gotten a ton of bigger school traction. This early summer will be huge for Troyer and he's one of several names who could very well break out and draw more interest this summer.

QB Johnny Webber Carmel Catholic 6-foot-4, 185 pounds 2024- Has great size.frame and throws a really good ball. Overall 2022 season tape was solid but also not spectacular. Weber has worked hard this off season on his passing ability and location and again....I just see a quarterback who could wind up playing at a pretty high level.

QB Ryan Jackson Lyons Township 5-foot-10 185 pounds 2024- Veteran signal caller who has success on the varsity level for two years. Is one of several QB names is the 2024 class who can really throw it but who don't meet the bigger level required size etc.

QB Jett Hilding St Rita 6-foot-2, 180 pounds 2024- Has some tools and some ability and should be in line for a big 2023 season. Will draw more looks this summer no question.

QB Cole Crafton Lincoln Way West 6-foot-3, 205 pounds 2024- A big time baseball recruit here who also is possibly the best overall athlete in the QB class. Has a lot to offer, several higher level schools continue to keep an eye on Crafton this spring....but can he break thru with a big spring and summer showing? If not this is another name colleges could be a fall back guy and a PWO candidate.

QB Cale McThenia Marian Central Catholic 6-foot-3, 210 pounds 2024- Committed to Northern Iowa. Could also draw more looks and offers but seems like a great fit for the Panthers.

QB Ryan Mohler Neuqua Valley 6-foot-3, 190 pounds 2024-nGood sized athlete who started to get things rolling last season. Stepped up as a backup and led the Wildcats last season and has a chance to shine this spring/summer.

QB Braden Tischer Lincoln Way East 5-foot-10, 170 pounds 2024- Had an impressive 2022 season and was a true dual threat all season long. Doesn't fit the bigger level measurable's but his game is certainly at a pretty high level. Sumer camp circuit will be big here.

QB Caden Casimino Crystal lake South 5-foot-11, 180 pounds 2024- Highly productive quarterback whop put up big numbers and offense in 2022.

QB Connor Dennis Boylan 6-foot-2, 180 pounds 2024- Impressive thrower and game manager here who I feel just needs to be seen a bit more.

QB Marek Hill Fenwick 6-foot-3, 190 pounds 2024- Still haven't seen live yet....shows some good things on video.

QB Brock Bowlsby Carbondale 6-foot-4, 185 pounds 2024- Big strong dude who can sling it....could the home town Salukis be trying to stash this kid? Could end up being a nice PWO candidate for the FCS/D2 level.

QB Jalen Bea Chris The King 6-foot-0, 197 pounds 2024

QB Dennis Mandala ICCP 5-foot-11, 170 pounds 2024- Another steady, big game player and winner.

QB Casey Giemzik Brother Rice 6-foot-3, 220 pounds 2024

QB Ethan Kohl Bradley 6-foot-3, 180 pounds 2024- A coaches kid who is another name who just doesn't seen to be getting a ton of traction so far. Has really solid 2022 season tape and I'm looking foirward to seeing him throw live this spring/summer.

QB/ATH Jacob Sullivan Marmion Academy 6-foot-0, 197 pounds 2024- Former South Elgin signal caller is a nice dual threat and solid overall athlete here.

QB Valentino Gist Peoria 6-foot-1, 180 pounds 2024-Was starting to make some strides last season for the Lions and Gist has a chance to have a huge breakout 2023 senior season.

QB Connor Folliard Plainfield South 6-foot-2, 175 pounds 2024- Good athlete here who's made some nice strifes in his game. Starter since his sophomore season who just needs to have more of a stage to show off his ability.

QB Jason Penza Crystal Lake Central 6-foot-2, 185 pounds 2024- Had an injury in 2022 just before the start of his season which no question has impacted his stock. When healthy Penza is a big armed thrower and also a high level athlete.

QB Trenton Zeeb Brese Mater Dei 6-foot-2, 190 pounds 2024- downstate name on the rise....really liked his 2022 video and if he can show a bit more deep ball passes on his video and in person this spring has a chance to draw much more attention.

Class of 2025

QB Patrick Heneghan New Trier 5-foot-10, 170 pounds) 2025

QB Carson Boyd East St. Louis 5-foot-11, 160 pounds 2025

QB Ethan Plumb St Charles North 6-foot-3, 195 pounds 2025

QB Jack Elliott Chicago Mount Carmel 6-foot-1, 180 pounds 2025

QB Jackson Alcorn Central High 6-foot-1, 180 pounds 2025

QB Jacob Bell Naperville North 6-foot-1, 170 pounds 2025

QB Colton Gumino York 6-foot-2, 165 pounds 2025

QB Chase Hansen Breese Mater Dei 6-foot-0, 180 pounds

Impact Player for Jacobs:

Jacobs senior four star ranked TE Grant Stec (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) is already verbally committed to Wisconsin. Stec, who will also start at defensive end for the Jacobs Golden Eagles again this fall is no question a key leader and two way impact player for this program again in 2023. Stec, who is a multi-sport athlete is an unquestioned leader for this team again this fall.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Jacobs Golden Eagles :

Jacobs and head coach Brian Zimmerman had a terrific 2022 regular season, posting a 8-1 overall record and winning the Fox Valley Conference conference crown. The Golden Eagles made the Class 7A state playoff field and lost to Brother Rice in Round 1 action to end the season. Jacobs in 2023 will look towards an experienced team that will feature several senior multi-year starters on both sides of the football. The defense will welcome back an impressive 9 starters while the offense will lean heavily on the offensive line with three starters back along with some key skill kids.

The biggest question for Jacobs this summer? Who can step up and replace a handful of key positions (QB/WR) lost to graduation? Overall I like this Jacobs team to again be a serious contender for the FVC title and to get back into the 7A state playoff field and hopefully make a deeper run this fall. Overall the FVC early on looks to be pretty stacked with multiple teams returning a ton of underclassmen talent. I see the Golden Eagles again as a potential 8-1/7-2 caliber team for the 2023 season.

Impact Player for Salt Fork:

Both Salt Fork senior OL/DL Evan Webb and senior OL/DL Hayden Chew are experienced two way starters who will be asked to help lead a Salt Fork team that will have very limited experience back in 2023. The line play for Salt Fork should be an early strength with all 5 starters back on the offensive line from a season ago. Look for both Evan Webb and Hayden Chew to be asked to provide leadership on and off the field this season.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Salt Fork Storm:

Salt Fork and head coach Joe Hageman was able to finish the 2022 regular season with a 6-3 record....and in many ways this 6-3 finish could have easily been a 9-0 finish if the Storm would have caught a break in close losses to Seneca (37-35) Iroquois West (23-20) and Bismark (43-42). The Storm for the 2023 season welcomes back it's entire starting offensive line along with a solid core of experienced starters on both sides of the football. Look for Salt Fork to again contend for the Vermillion Valley conference race and to again crack the Class 1A state playoff field this fall.

Huntley senior RB Haiden Janke was an all conference and all area performer for the Red Raiders in 2022. Janke was a key ball carrier and run threat in the Red Raiders offense while also getting playing time on the defensive side of the football at linebacker. Janke will no question get a ton of carries and touches in 2023 and will be asked to provide leadership and production again this coming fall for Huntley.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Huntley Red Raiders:

Huntley and head coach Michael Naymola got the Red Raiders to an impressive 8-1 regular season record in his first year of taking over the Huntley football program in 2022. Huntley made the Class 8A state playoff field in 2022 and lost to Tinley Park Andrew in opening round action to end the season at 8-2. Huntley will again battle all comers in the very strong Fox Valley Conference this coming season. Huntley will need to reload a bit with just 4 starters back on both sides of the football, leaving the Red Raiders to replace 14 graduated starters from last season. Look for the Red Raiders to rely on a solid senior class anchored by RB Haiden Janke along with senior OL Jack Crudele. The schedule is always a challenge in the FVC and I can see the Red Raiders again challenging for the FVC conference title and to get back into the IHSA Class 8A.My best guess is I'll say q 7-2/6-3 regular season for Huntley in 2023.

Impact Player for Centraila:

The Orphans have a handful of experienced senior starters back this season who will also draw continued recruiting interest. Senior WR/DB Daryle Jones (5-foot-11, 160 pounds) is a returning All Conference and All Area player who will again be asked to provide production and leadership and to also never leave the field in 2023.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Centralia Orphans:

The Orphans and head coach Brad Goewey made the Class 5A state playoff field in 2022, defeated Troy in opening round action before losing to Morris in second round action to finish the 20122 season. Centralia will no question need to reload this coming summer and will need to replace 12 graduated starters (6 offense 6 defense) from last year's state playoff team. Also the South 7 will again be a pretty strong conference race and expect some of the usual suspects (Marion/Mt/ Vernon) to again challenge at the top of the conference. Look for the Orphans to again conmete against all comers and I can see this team ending up again as a 6-3/5-4 level team in 2023.

2023 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

@ Washington 7 on 7/ Saturday July 22

Impact Player for Limestone:

Limestone senior QB Caleb Bieneman will be a multi-year varsity starter and an intriguing name to watch this summer and fall for thew Rockets. Bieneman is a solid passer who is also comfortable throwing outside of the pocket. Look for Bieneman to draw increased recruiting looks and attention this summer and fall. I'm also looking for Bieneman to be a key senior leader for the Rockets in 2023 on and off the field.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Limestone Rockets:

The 2022 season was not a good one for Limestone and then first year head coach Jeff Schmider as the Rockets posted a disappointing 0-9 record. That's the bad news.....so what's the good news? Limestone welcomes back a ton of experience back from last season including (8 offense 9 defense) and that includes some talented names to watch as well. The Mid Illini conference is really solid year in and year out......so being able to go from 0-9 to the upper tier of the conference is no easy task. However, I can see this team getting to say 3-6/4-5 range this season? The schedule is a beast including a Week 1 non conference game at a stacked Mt. Zion team then hitting several top Mid Illini teams in the first half of the regular season.

2023 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

Impact Player for Central High School (Burlington):

Central senior OL/DL MJ Hansen (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) will be a tare four year varsity starter in 2023. Hansen, who has done a ton of work in the weight room this past winter has worked hard on adding more strength and shedding bad weight into muscle. Hansen is no question a verbal leader for this team and his leadership on and off the field will be much needed from a team looking to reach new heights this season.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Central High Rockets (Burlington):

Central High School (the school formerly known as Burlington Central) and head coach Brian Iossi had the Rockets knocking on the IHSA post-season door with a 4-4 record heading into Week 9. The Rockets came up short and lost to McHenry in Week 9 to miss the state playoff field but this was a very young team last season that welcomes back a strong core of returning starters on both sides of the football. One of the biggest hurdles for the Central High Rockets is playing in the rugged Fox Valley Conference, but could the 2023 season be it's FVC break through year and can they and a post-season spot for the first time since 2014?

The biggest question facing the Rockets this season? Can Central finish out and close tight games and win those games along with playing and contending against the upper tier of the FVC? If you are looking for a nice sleeper tam to watch this coming season no question the Central Rockets will need to be pretty high up on your sleepers to watch listing.

2023 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

We are hosting (2) 7 on 7's in June

Impact Player for Hoffman Estates:

I was able to see the Hawks live in 2023 and came away impressed with Hoffman Estates for the 20-22 season along with it's potential for 2023. Thge Hawks I feel have a handful of key names to watch this fall and I'll give you one on each side of the football. Senior RB Quincy Williams was in the HE district as a freshman, moved out of state then returned back home last fall. Williams has a lot to offer including a really nice mix of speed and power who's an every down running back. Junior S/OLB Nate Cleveland (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) is a D1 level talent in my opinion. Cleveland, who is the younger brother for former Hawks and current SIU DL Dante Cleveland has a ton of athletic ability and will be a sought after player in the Class of 2025.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Hoffman Estates Hawks:

The Hawks are coming off a 7-4 season in 2023 as the Hawks finished the regular season with a 6-3 record, made the Class 7A state playoff field and defeated Elk Grove in Round 1 then lost to St Charles North in second round action. The Hawks and head coach Tim Heyse welcomes back a nice core of starters (6 offense 6 defense) and the talent level is also pretty strong.

The biggest question for Hoffman Estates this season? Who will step up and replace the graduated offensive production lost when QB Aidan Cyr graduates this spring. Cyr was a multi-year varsity starter for the Hawks and a go to guy and leader. If the Hawks can get a quarterback rolling this summer the remaining offensive skills are a plus. I see the Hawks again challenging for the Mid Suburban West conference crown and I'll project them as a 7-2/6-3 team in 2023.

Numbers - Numbers -Numbers!

All... About six months till game one. Now nobody really knows this early sometimes not even until the postseason qualifiers are actually announced what class certain schools will be placed in.

When the Ihsa brings out the preseason class designation list as teams drop from consideration during the year many schools end up playing in a different class in the playoffs. Having mentioned that I'm bored and have worked up some very early Researching I looked at and compared past historical and up to the present playoff class school enrollment numbers and this is what I came up with.

5A looks to be a beast in 2023. In no particular order Nazareth, JCA, St. Francis NLP, although at 1296.075 they appear to be a 5A/6A bubble team. A newcomer to 5a is runner up 6A Prairie Ridge. SHG 536 (884.40) (LFF2023) is in 5A due to the success factor as well. There are others and don't forget Peoria even though they lose their stud RB. They are a pain in the a$$ to play.

Two schools that now appear to be a class 3A/4A on the bubble team would make noise if ending up in 3A. The first although not the power team as in the past would be Phillips. The second Richmond (Burton). Schools all over the state with enrollment drops makes all of this speculation difficult. We will see. Ratsy

2023 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

Team Camp @ UW-Whitewater

Impact Player for St. Ignatius:

St. Ignatius senior 5 star ranked defensive tackle Justin Scott (6-foot-5, 312 pounds) is one of the most highly sought after names in the nation. Scott, who will play on both side of the line again this fall for the Wolfpack and who is also expected to make his college decision this summer is simply one of the most physically impressive names from the State of Illinois in many years. Look for Scott to make his college decision between a handful of Power 5 schools including Notre Dame, Georgia, Miami Fla. and most observers feel Notre Dame has the inside track.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 St. Ignatius Wolfpack:

The turnaround of the St Ignatius program under head coach Matt Miller has been very impressive after posting winning records in four straight seasons including last fall making the Class 6A state playoffs and losing in the 6A state semifinals to Prairie Ridge to finish the season. The 2023 season will no question test and challenge the programs overall depth, numbers and talent level after graduating a very strong senior class this spring.

The biggest question for St. Ignatius this season? Can the Wolfpack reload this summer and remain at the top of the CCL/ESCC conference along with remaining a playoff caliber team this fall? The Wolfpack welcomes back just 2 starters on offense and 3 starters back on defense from last season. The regular season schedule as always offers zero break for the Wolfpack as 7 of it's 9 regular season opponents make the IHSA state playoff field in 2022. Overall? I'm still looking for this team to challenge all comers and to challenge for a state playoff spot in 2023, and I can see this St. Ignatius ending the 2023 regular season as a 6-3/5-4 caliber team.

Impact Player for Blue Island Eisenhower:

Eisenhower Class of 2025 3 star ranked ATH Andre Lovett (6-foot-2, 170 pounds) is a special talent who is already drawiung Power 5 attention along with also adding several college scholarship offers this spring. Lovett, who will play wide receiver and safety again this coming season is a game breaking playmaker who will be again asked to provide a strong overall presence in all three phases of the game for Eisenhower. The Cardinals and head coach Sheamus Murphy also has a handful of additional senior players who are college level names to watch in 2023 as well.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals:

Eisenhower and head coach Sheamus Murphy has built this program into a consistent winner and a team that will again challenge in the South Suburban Red conference in 2023. The Cardinals ended the 2022 season with a 5-4 record and lost in opening round action to Lemont to end the season. Eisenhower has made the IHSA state playoff field for three straight seasons (2019/2021 and 2022) and are seeking to make it four straight playoffs this fall.

The biggest question for Eisenhower this season? Can the Cardinal make the important next step....get into the IHSA post-season playoffs and advance out of the opening round? Eisenhower has been in the state playoffs for three straight years and has also been eliminated in the opening round. Eisenhower has a really nice core of returning starters back this summer who will be asked to become leaders and be also asked to make more of an impact in 2023. If the Cardinals can get some help from the underclassmen group to fill in at a few key positions (offensive line/quarterback/linebacker) this team can make some noise again in 2023. I can see the Cardinals again challenging in the South Suburban Red for a conference title and I see them right now as say a 7-2/6-3 caliber tram this fall.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 BCC Saints : Bloomington Central Catholic finished 2022 with a 6-3 regular season record, made the Class 2A state playoff field and lost in second round action to Rockridge to end the season. Look for the Saints to again challenge in the Illini Prairie conference this coming season and to again be a factor in the state playoff field. The biggest question will be can the Saints reload in the back seven defensively and also add some depth at a handful of key spots. Overall numbers and depth remain an issue for many teams across the State of Illinois and BCC will look towards a pretty solid underclassmen group to step up and help this summer.

Impact Player for ALAH:
The Knights will welcome back a nice core of returning starters for the 2023 season including a strong mix of senior along with some key underclassmen. From the senior class, keep an eye on QB/DB Jayce Parsons (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) who is a good sized, athletic two way starter and impact player for the Knights. Also senior RB/DB Landon Waldrop is another multi-positional two way starter who will also be asked to provide leadership and production this fall. From the junior class, OL/DL Jacob Tighe (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) is already appearing on some early recruiting radar screens and has good overall college level size and potential.

EDGY's Quick Take on the 2023 ALAH Knights: ALAH will be looking to move on after graduating standout RB Kaden Feagin (Illinois) who had been a monster for the Knights during his high school career. The shelves are far from bare for ALAH in 2023 and look for this program to remain competitive this fall led by a solid core of returning starters on both sides of the football. The ALAH Coop has started to see more consistent success having made the IHSA state playoff field for three straight seasons and look to be in line to challenge for the Lincoln Prairie conference title along with a state playoff bid in 2023.
