Rochester vs Cardinal Ritter (Week 2)

When Rochester got smashed by Loyola, the biggest thing was that both of their lines were utterly dominated.

If that is the case on Friday, it will be a very long night for the Rockets.
Loyola also had greater speed at nearly every skill position. That is what the Rockets will also face in Ritter.

This will be a humbler game for the Rockets and will hopefully keep them grounded for a long upcoming season with several more closely matched teams.

HOT CPL Thursday Action Week 2

It's Thursday!!! Shockingly, I woke up hankering for a Gately Dog. (Don't judge me, I have issues....) Good thing Corlissssss and Ag Science kick it off tonight at 7:30. I'm guessing arrival needs to be by 6:30 since it's early in the weekend and the Red Coat security detail will be fully spicy. Nothing beats waiting in line while they pat down, then wand the bands from both teams while checking the team equipment bags. At least you can get the sweet smell of those glizzies while you wait.
Farmers in the upset!!!!

New: 2024 Breakdown of the Lincoln Way East Griffins

I prepare these for every team I see live (unless your camera breaks and you dont/can't prepare one sorry Loyola/ESTL fans I'll make it up later this season)

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

At first, I thought it must've been something in one of the IPAs I was served last week.. But I woke up Sunday only to hear our two nationally-ranked members are winless, only one of our three Irish teams managed a win and our city guys got whooped by pumpkin farmers and a futbol school. Is it too late to get Bogan or Mather on the schedule? All hope is with the Corsairs now.

Miles McVay Keeps Working

Proctor got hurt? That guy committed to Iowa, decommited for Alabama. When Saban left he went in the portal and recommitted to Iowa, then magically went back to Alabama….as far as the ESL linemen, the gamble of committing to big time programs is with so many big time recruits going there, it leaves very little room for error in a program where you can easily plug another 4 or 5 star in. Depending on what there plan is for him I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Mizzou or maybe Illinois next season. Illini would plug him in right away
That's the thing - the kid seems so hung ho for Bama, I think he sticks it out and is content being a two-year starter during his five years. Change that blubber body to an adonis to play Sundays.

CS8 Predictions-Week 2

Ironic...because that Loyola score is my prediction for this Friday for the Rockets: Ritter 56-7. Ritter just manhandled Jackson MO...another team the Rockets would have trouble with...and calpreps shows beating the Rockets.

The Rockets can keep it from being a blowout by playing the game of their lives and hoping the grass slows Ritter down enough.

Luckily, I was out of state and did not see the Loyola blowout in person. I was at the 2 most lopsided losses suffered in the SHG series: the 56-13 running clock in '14 and the no-TD 45-6 almost running clock in '18. Both those games were at KL stadium. I do think Derek will be able, at home, to engineer several Rocket scores Friday. The defense is another story, guessing the IHSA would not look fondly on the Rockets suiting up Ingold, Lyons, Buecker, etc., for one more game!

CS8 Predictions-Week 2

I just have a hunch that QND can do it, but in full disclosure you need to know I picked Rochester over Loyola in the 56-7 '21 rout.

St Rita streaming update?

When I’m on a case near 77 and Western I will always give them a courtesy security check around the lot. I noticed a guts for a new Jumbotron was up but the screen wasn’t in. Work in progress?
Yes. Maybe later this season. Probably beginning of next season. The LED type lights also I am hearing. But let’s just concentrate on a solid, reliable, publicly available stream before we get fancy.

And thank you for the courtesy security check.

WB6 Week 2

Niles Notre Dame (1-0) @ Sterling (0-1): It’s a learning year in Golden Warrior land as the team is super young and is figuring out how to be varsity football players. Sterling does have some dude as Kaeden Phillips is speedy and dangerous in the open field and Drew Nettleton has a fast ball of a throw. I don’t really know Niles ND, but they look like they have some size and want to punish people up front. Sterling’s kids are tough, but NND probably wears them down for a comfortable win.

Prediction: Niles by 17

Geneseo (1-0) @ Clinton (WI) (1-1): Geneseo makes the long haul to Wisconsin to take on a school roughly half it’s size. Clinton looks like it has some size to it but unsure about the team speed. Clinton also looks to have only about 20-22 kids on the field. Long bus ride probably leads to a sluggish start for the Leafs, but once they start grinding with their double wing/wing t attack, I think they pull away after half time.

Prediction: Geneseo by 3 touchdowns.

Limestone (0-1) @ Galesburg (0-1): Last season, Galesburg won this game 41-7. This is Galesburg chance to right the ship. After getting handled last week by Dunlap, Galesburg gets a Limestone opponent still finding it’s feet as well. I think Limestone is a little better this season, but Galesburg has a few more athletes and should overwhelm Limestone in the end.

Prediction: Galesburg by 17

Moline (1-0) @ Benet Academy (1-0): Last season, Benet won 38-7. Game of the week in the conference this week. Moline built a lot of confidence and momentum in beating a good Missouri school in overtime last week. History says Benet just has Moline’s number, no matter how good Moline is. I think that all changes this season. Moline will look to pound the ball and keep Benet’s O off the field. Moline’s D needs to not have the late game break down it had last week that let the game slip into overtime. I think Moline finally gets over the Benet hump this season.

Prediction: Moline by 1

Alton (0-1) @ Quincy (1-0): Last season, Quincy won this game 40-6. Quincy handled in town rivel Notre Dame last week but was very sloppy in doing so. Even still, Quincy’s talent and speed was on full display. Alton got hammered by Althoff last week, their secondary giving up 3 TD’s on 4 pass completions. Hate to say it Redbirds…Quincy likes to sling it. I see Quincy cleaning up their penalties and tightening up the defense for a comfortable home win.

Prediction: Quincy by running clock

Dunlap (1-0) @ Rock Island (1-0): Last season, Dunlap won 21-7. Dunlap looks very solid last week in its plastering of Galesburg. Rock Island showed flashes of what it could be in it’s loss to Minooka. I think this game comes down to can Rocky control the ball and limit possessions for Dunlap’s dangerous offense. If they can, I think they have a good shot at pulling a W. If not, Rock Island’s defense will eventually break.

Prediction: Dunlap by 10

Chicago Muchin (0-1) @ United Township (0-1): Last season, UT won 60-6. I do not think this will be much of a game. UT has size on the line and a running back who has blink and you miss him speed. The defense played very solidly last week against LP. Games is over by halftime and the back ups get some experience reps.

Prediction: UT by running clock.
