Feetos Friday Upset Special.....

Naperville North 31
Naperville Central 21
Not a bad pick, but it didn't happen. NC running the table to set up a showdown in Week 9 with an undefeated LWE team? In 2021, the RedHawks took down the Griffins Week 2 in Naperville on a last second FG. This season the game will be in Frankfort, though. Until then, they both play 3 of the same opponents and 3 different. Maybe a bit early for this prediction.

CS8 Predictions-Week 2

I completely missed your ever so witty response. A little busy trying to see if the Wolverines are competitive this year. So, what did I miss about your squad getting a victory over a mediocre team after getting a clock put on them last week?
All.... You didn't miss much while you were out of town watching an unethical program and team you idolize that used to be run by a crooked coach. Other then a 2A size enrollment high school smack the Rockets all over the field in Rochester. Ratsy

WB6 Week 2 Speedish round-up

Niles Notre Dame 17 @ Sterling 0: Defense for the Golden Warriors showed a lot of growth and played very well…but the offense and special teams still needs A LOT of work. Double digit negative plays and blocked punts do not bode well.

Geneseo 20 @ Clinton (WI) 6: Low scoring grind for the Leafs. All points were scored in the first half, the exciting cap being an 83 yard homerun td run by Geneseo late in the 2nd quarter. Geneseo rushed for almost 300 yards and held Clinton to just over 200 total. Good win after a long bus ride.

Limestone 26 @ Galesburg 34: Silver Streaks pull off the win in a back and forth game. Galesburg looks like they might have found some weapons on offense producing several big plays. The defense did just enough in the 2nd half to get some late stops.

Moline 29 @ Benet Academy 49: This game was an even 14-14 at the half. Moline was able to move the ball and get a few stops. 3rd quarter…all the wheels fell off. Turnovers and bad tackling let Benet blow the game wide open and out of reach.

Alton 13 @ Quincy 42: Quincy had a very sleepy 1st quarter, but then some of the deep bombs Little threw connected in the 2nd quarter. Defense added in a pick 6 for a 35-13 half time lead. 2nd half was even more ho hum feeling.

Dunlap 34 @ Rock Island 24: Rock Island was game for this one. They have athletes that can burn you and a QB that can sling it. Their down fall this game was too many penalties and Dunlap making a few more plays than they did. Still a solid showing from the Rocks.

Chicago Muchin 0 @ United Township 67: Score kinda speaks for itself. Got the youngians some varsity experience.

Head scratching games from the Outside looking in!

Reed-Custer definitely in a decline relative to a couple years ago.
They had a once a generation type class where they were in the top two or three 3A teams for a two year stretch, but those days are over - for now. They had Byron basically beat @ Byron both years only for the Tigers to make incredible comebacks both times.
It remains to be seen if any of the excitement that was generated in the youth levels by that group will carry over to high school.
Many small towns in the state have dried up due to one thing or another. My hometown lost a coal mine and 3/4 of the jobs at a power plant. Now they play 8 man football.

All.... Friendly people as well. The Corner Keg is a must stop before a game. Lot of fans hanging out. Had one walk up to me as a howdy with a free bottle of ice cold Stag. I managed to knock it down. (but it wasn't easy) Ratsy
As you move south, lots of Stag signs outside of bars/taverns. About 30 years ago, I worked temporarily in Washington County. It had a town, DuBois, of around 250 with a bar with a huge Stag sign that I used to frequent.

How's this, Kev?

First thing that came to my mind was that this MC team is the least experienced and talented team I've seen Lynch field in about 4 years. But I do know there are some promising underclassmen that will be talked about real soon. That WR is a stud..
On to Rita. JBuckner is a stud and was playing a few new positions today , one of which I was not particularly pleased with , but he still caused havoc. As @McCaravan stated earlier, front 7 is as good as advertised... As season goes on, the young DB's should get it together.
Offensively, there needs to be plays drawn up to get Rita RB's in open space and runs off tackle. Walter Jones is a future star and I hope he recovers well from what it looks like his hamstring was bothering him . I Like the young talent at the skills position, they are young there, so it will take some time for them as well. The Oline needs some work as Rita couldn't establish the run game. I think I read somewhere Armbruster had 25-27 pass attempts.
Chaka--thanks for your input. Here's what I've heard or read.

Rita has a lot of young talent in the building, along with depth because the lower levels have done well last few years.

The defense--as time progresses--will be a very good one keeping her in games against better competition.

I think Jr. Armbruster will be a major contributor; he has that potential to lead this team--even Tom Lemming has reports on him.

In the end, it may just come down to the O-line play. "Everyone needs linemen these days" is a quote I've heard often.

If the O-line can develop, and the young QB can make his passes AND be a running threat himself (like Tommy U), then this team will have a very good chance to do some damage in 7A.

I think the next two weeks will be very telling for this team: @ Chicago BR and @ Wheaton St. Francis.

That's what they call "program wins". Culture and character count. Wilmington at Seneca 2023 playoffs for example ⚡🔥
Yeah for sure. I’m a Wilmo grad and fan, but I can admit that Seneca was probably the better overall team. They just weren’t the better team on that day.

How's this, Kev?

A methodical drubbing? Anything positive for Rita?
