Speed Kills - IHSA Track

pretty weird I have to admit. I don't see that at all. Oh well. this is what I see from IHSA website
https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/546419/results
Not sure what you're seeing but when I click your link and then select a field event it list metric on top and standard right below it. Maybe try a different browser, I'm using Chrome.

Q of the Week: 2024 Preseason IHSA Football Player of the Year?

I don't get why people don't talk enough about how good Jonas Williams is. He's the best QB in the State and it's not close. He might be the best QB in the Midwest and he's now at 8A powerhouse LWE!
And the scary thing is......he's a freaking sophomore.

New Stadiums/ Renovations

All.... Roamin' private schools get an exemption on my unhappiness with stadium seating issue. They are self funding as you know and do what they can. ☺️ SHG by the way didn't even have a field to play on until 2012. QND's upgrade s look quite nice. And in old school tradition I believe I read somewhere they still allow fans to sit in chairs (or stand) around the field.

Knock on wood I will be at the game parked on Van Buren close to the away fans entrance with the Cyclone flag flying high week four. Even closer to the party house. 😇 I haven't a clue on what type of fan crowd SHG will bring. The times have changed a bit. Ratsy P.S. Go Raiders and go SHG!
Correct, many if not most, QND fans still stand/sit along the north endzone/corners. Larger away crowds tend to take up the southwest corner/endzone on occassion. If I could find a picture of the old Pittsfield/QND games back in the late 90s you could see why we called it the northern swamp. But boy 4,000 (so they say) packed that thing in 97, 4 rows deep all the way around.

Some may know QND's athletic setup, part of the game field, practice fields, and softball used to be the city dump way back up until the late 70s, maybe early 80s. In the AM during two-a-days we'd call it the "mist" but in reality it was stink seeping up from beneath us. Smelled terrible. Even from when I played in the early 2000s we had a dump of a setup. Ask Rochester about 2010... but since the upgrades have been plentiful and it's really a nice facility. Proud of it for sure.

As for crowds these days, the same goes at QND. Some weeks it's great, others it stinks. I'm hoping the move to the CS8 will attract many back to 10th and Jackson for this year. Granted the product on the field may be lacking...

Different audience.
Ihsa needs to know it’s audience. And people who are well-versed on the metric system is not it at all.
Want to include metrics. Include both. Problem solved. We

I just looked up the IHSA girls sectional track results and of course the results in every field event are listed in meters. Why the IHSA would post track results in meters rather than feet/imches is beyond me.
And yes, you can try and defend the IHSA by saying they farm out the sectional results to a company to post, and to that I would ask why you would farm out important track results to any firm that will only list the performances in meters rather than feet/inches.
That's just carelessness by the IHSA.
Outsourced to a foreign entity that measures in the metric system?

That's how college and pros do it as well. Consistency

New Stadiums/ Renovations

4 games under the lights this year? Haven’t seen the schedule, as I don’t think they have a 2nd out of conference game scheduled yet.
Week 2 is still TBD. As it stands now there are 2 home games scheduled to be under the lights:

Week 3 vs St. Francis
Week 4 vs Brother Rice

Week 7 is the only other home game (Providence) but that is scheduled to be Saturday as of right now.

Impact Player for Prospect

Prospect under head coach Dan DeBoeuf has been fortunately to have strong quarterbacks in his tenure, and senior QB Jack Skoog will be a multi-year varsity starter this fall. Skoog has a very solid and accurate arm, has good size and is an athletic dual threat quarterback and a name to watch this fall no question.

Looking for a sleeper name to watch for the Knights? Prospect senior RB Noah Easter has also been a very productive and steady player for the Knights who looks primed to hve a big 2024 season.

EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Prospect Knights

Prospect has been a consistent winner since head coach Dan DeBoeuf took over the reins of the program back in 2018, and the Knights have made the IHSA state playoff field in every year since that 2018 season. The Knights in 2023 made the Class 7A state playoff field and lost to eventual Class 7A state champion Mount Carmel to end the season with an 8-3 record.

The biggest question for the Knights heading into 2024?

Can Prospect make the next few huge steps as a program, make a deep post-season run and win the Class 7A state championship anytime soon? In all honesty I'm not sure of the 2024 Knights are a state title team in 7A, a class that continues to remain pretty stacked at the too. However, this program has reloaded as well as anyone over the last several seasons and I can easily see Prospect making a run for the Mid Suburban East title and also a 7A state playoff bid. This program continues to be pointed up in my opinion.

Joliet West now 29-4.
3 of the top 7 ranked teams in the state are in the Providence Sectional.
#5 PC
#6 LWW
#7 JTW
And the 4 seed in the sectional, LWC, just beat JCA yesterday. That is one tough sectional. Good luck to the Tigers. I would love to see them win this sectional.

And whoever wins the PC sectional will most likely have to play Naz in the Super Sectional. Yikes!
