What HS team do you root for

Mt Carmel has won 15 state championships. Of these, two were at the highest level at that time; twelve were one level down; and one was two levels down. We've lost five state championship games: two at the highest level at that time, and three at one level down. We lost in the semis in 1987 to East St Louis in the highest level. In the seven years from 2006 to 2012, we competed in 8A playoffs.

Glenbard West question

I think the biggest thing for youth programs is just getting kids out and playing before hs is huge. In youth football right now everyone is trying to build super teams and it’s pointless. To use the PR travel hawks as an example a lot of those kids were from Norridge, Harwood heights and Chicago. Most of those kids are at ridgewood, st pats, nd or Taft now. Theirs several more examples I can give with programs doing the same thing. Where before the goal was to get kids that would feed into your hs

St. Rita 31 @ St. Francis 13 Final

@RockSoup Pops was RB at Bloom Trail HS. c/o 89. We(Bloom Trojans) used to take them to the woodshed with the likes of NFL Hall of Famer Bryant Young and Michigan Wolverine Marcus Walker. The good ole Sica East days.....
Dang it. I’m out of the family now. 😂 I knew that. Man, what a team. Don’t have JBuck run me over Friday night for mot remembering correctly.

Okay, thread closed. Onto week 5 @eireog and the Mighty Dons of Niles in St. Rita’s own version of a trap week. Let’s see how the young Mustangs respond with everyone patting them on the back for the last two weeks after they recovered admirably from their Week 2 lesson delivered by Mt. Carmel.

Until our teams meet again my Chicago Catholic League friends, the St. Francis Spartans’ faithful. Glad it went St. Rita’s way this year, but win or lose, your program does Friday nights so dang well. May good fortune await your program in November.

Early 6A conversation

Chatham is very good and could be even better next year. I don't think, however, they could beat East St Louis.

I'll be watching to see how the Flyers game with Edwardsville turns out for comparison purposes.
Two different times of the year . Plenty of time for improvement from E’ville and Chatham .

De La Salle forfeits Friday's game (9/27) to Fenwick

LISLE might be the second school to do the same this week.
I was wondering if that might not happen.

I don’t believe they have any lower level teams, and I’ve heard their numbers were low. I have not seen them, just going off second hand, but they’ve had a really rough go so far.
They had similar issues with low numbers and injuries last year too, although they did manage to win their final game vs Braidwood.

CS8 Predictions-Week 5

I enjoy your predictions and I agree with your post. I think its time to take the kid gloves off and call it like we see it. QND, barring a letdown, will have no trouble with SHS for a plethora of reasons. Yes, there is the angle of "if" SHS loses this game the playoffs hopes start of fall off so they will come out swinging but... 32-12 QND

I really feel for bad for any Sr losing their last season due to injury but the Rocket 3rd string QB is good enough to lead them past U-High.

As for the weather I hope it doesn't impact the games up there. Down here I just had my pool started two days ago so with the the dug and the rebar placed, along with the piping and all, Im hoping the next few days are light of rain lol.
Weather forecast starting to look better for Friday, but the rain chance/amount may keep going back and forth like it did in Week 1.

De La Salle forfeits Friday's game (9/27) to Fenwick

Keep 8 classes.

Start the season a week earlier. Come playoffs, seed all 4-5 11-man and any 8-man teams that want to be included. Let them compete for the #16 seed. If an 8-man team wins (vs another 8-man), they can recruit additional players to enter the official playoffs.

Play a Wednesday game for the teams vying for week one expansion playoff games (as a #16).

Talk about exciting.

Or not.

With these forfeit games taking place… do we need to reduce the number of classes in the state????

Yes, but not for the reason you think.

They should be reduced because there are about 10,000 fewer kids playing Illinois High School football now than there were when the number of classes was increased from six to eight.
