All.... When it rains it pours as they say. Sammy this morning on the radio "heard" that Eli is also out for the season? I have alway said injuries are part of the game but there are years when it can get pretty bad.

The worst I have ever seen for the Cycs was 2023. Two or three starters out from quarter one in the opening game and every game after through the end of the playoffs. And the faces changed weekly. Add on to many that returned who never were at 100% playing capability for the rest of the season. The football Gods are a fickle group at times.... Ratsy

I heard the enrollment numbers are updated by IHSA every 2 years. Idk is that's accurate to be honest. But 833 are numbers from 2022. Our numbers are over 1200 in 2024. Would those numbers put at 6A, possible 7A? Yikes!!

Neuqua and Rock Island were reasonable "challenging" matchups with a mid tier 8A team and a decent 6A program when Minooka was aspiring to occasionally make the playoffs. Now if they actually desire to win 8A playoff games regularly, and acknowledging that their league is historically a poor preparation for 8A playoff success (Oswego this year being the exception) they absolutely need to seek out the toughest they can find in weeks 1 and 2 before 2 cupcakes and an average to below average 8A league. LWE and Maine South caliber finds for weeks 1 and 2 are what they need if they are serious.

Yeah what’s weird is that they had a once per generation basketball/baseball group with the Shoonover/Headrick group that went to 3 sectional finals in hoops and won state in baseball. Hedrick is still in the Twins organization. That was like grad class of 2016.
Then 5 years later they had perhaps the most talented group of football players to come through the conference in at least 15 years if not more with the ‘21-‘22 group.
None of this has resulted in any sustained success, although they usually are pretty good at baseball over there.

So college teams don’t get penalties? What about the NFL? The reality is ESL realized the narrative years ago and learned how to be successful regardless. Penalties have never been the reason why ESL loss a game.

The opposing team executing and playing their tails off is who gets credit for defeating ESL.

Casey Westfield started week one at number 7, have gone 4-0 since then and have dropped to 10. how does that make sense

The game that really stands out for me where ESL had a ridiculous amount of penalties/holding calls was back when they played @ Rock Island a few years ago. They had something like 240 yards in penalties.

The also won that game 70-21.

Palatine High - the undesirable side of the tracks! With pregnant gym class. Or at least that was always the rumor.

Fremd & Maine South..

Fremd vs Palatine is beyond a HUGE rivalry. Given I bleed Scarlett & Gray, by definition I must dislike them.

Back in the late 1970s in Park Ridge, Maine East vs Maine South was as big a rivalry as Palatine vs Fremd is here in Palatine. Back then the athletic prowess of both schools was comparable.

2011 through 2014 they opened the season with Morris and it was non conference. They also played Providence week 2 each of those years.

I don't think he took over until March, so this is not his first recruiting class.

I LOVE STL weather - took some meterorolgy classes back in the day. North and South wind streams converge here, forming the Jet Stream - with STL as the border. Those war,m and cool wind streams can jam up as they move East, due to the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers - meaning tons of moisture - that hits the eastern bluffs, a natural barrier that causes weather fronts to slow and mix with each other. As such, we e get some wicked storms here with house rattling thunder.

The video at the bottom of this link shows delination of the two streams and it is right where I sit presently.
