Let's talk 6a bracket.

My friend, you said the below earlier in this thread….⬇️⬇️⬇️

You are talking about 3 schools that have enrollments under 800 without the multiplier. JCA (585) STF (685) Naz (715). You want them in 6A because they WIN? What about Rochester (754) who has won about 9 state titles the past 11 or 12 years in 4A. Why don't they move up to get challenged. There is no good system, but just cause teams are private doesn't mean that they should get penalized for winning. This should happen to all schools, regardless. CPS for basketball can play for any school in the city....is that fair??? Life is not fair, get better!!!

The fighting pebbles moved up without winning. That’s the real sign of a legit program.

Next week they will get to show what they’re made of for the whole state to see.

To be the best, you gotta play the best.

I believe St Rita requests to play 7a often. I know they have a small enrollment

Peoria Notre Dame 59 Rochester 58 … “Houston, we have a problem”

All.... Number one was answered. If you recall the ruling was for a one game forfeit not several because of only one close score. (with SHG) Speeding is speeding. Give a ticket to all or look the other way and give it to no one. But that would of blown the season up. The Ihsa wasn't about to go down that road. Hey they own the store and can do what they want regardless of how bad it looks. Your asking the wrong person about an objective measurement. Ask the Ihsa.

Number two. I don't recall but on that situation and I PREFACE this I may be wrong a one game suspension for your Coach on that one. I do remember the school claimed they did not know. One game good enough for the Ihsa I guess,

And of course the last one. It would be interesting to learn how much input the Ihsa had on the recommendation in the report. Certainly gave them an out not to touch it. Seniors involved get a walk because they are seniors. Really? Getting shot resulting in welts (lets not forget the other "stuff "going on as well in the report) and who knows what else and the reviewer describing that act as assault and aggravated battery. Recommends a one game suspension and in the same breath scolds those" IN CHARGE" knowing it wouldn't go any farther then that by the school. Taking the high road isn't for everyone I suppose. Sigh.... Ratsy
Thank you for the reasoned response. Trying to take in all points of view on the matter.

I'm curious as to your thoughts on the Hilsboro Football suspensions earlier this year. Did you agree with the self imposed penalties there?

I don't know of any others....that is why I asked.

As for appropriate penalties...what objective measurement are you using to determine what is appropriate? Just your belief, or is there something else?

aside from the announcer and mom calling this a block in the back on a defensive player, since mom is trying to drag a viral hate mob on a 15-18 year old kid (expose the player, her words) for something that happened in the first 2.5 seconds of a contact football play between the whistles, why not consider it from the defensive perspective.

the play in the video is the "modern day triple option", with the three options being: give the zone, qb keep, or qb throw the bubble on the run. It's run here almost exactly as we seen frequently now in the NFL and college. see here for a video of the play going to the third option (the bubble). the play is intended to cause the olb to bite either on the zone or qb run, opening up a lane for the bubble option, a lane which you can see at :08 timestamp.

The qb and two receivers are playing out the second and third option. i see #2 blocking #22, and in #22s line of sight until tenths of a second before the collision. you can see rockets #2 with his hands still on #22 with :08 timestamp, and the contact occurs within the :08 timestamp, the same second.

when the rockets were prepping for PND, who seems to run mostly old school triple option variation, do you think they were teaching the players to tackle their responsibility (dive qb pitch) on every play, rather than trying to figure out who had the ball? that's the way everyone i've ever heard of teaches to play triple option. every play, get the dive, the qb, and the pitch on the ground. was rochester not tackling the dive back when he didn't have the ball? again, less than 1 second elapses between the corner escaping the block and the hit.
Back when we had to prep against the triple option we were definitely taught to tackle each person. That way it didnt matter who had the ball. Granted this was 25 years ago, not sure what they do now.

BYRON at MONTINI?

It’ll be a close game. Traditionally Montini has struggled against teams like this. It all depends on how this game is played
Yeah I think it will be close.
I’m leaning Montini with good weather on their home turf.
The soph dual threat QB gives them an advantage over last year and has really seemed to spark Montini this season. Byron’s defense will be put to the test and their offense had better finish some long drives with points on the board.
Should be a great game.

BYRON at MONTINI?

I doubt many players read or care what us knuckleheads post on the message boards.
I think there is zero percent chance that Montini players are thinking this game is gonna be a cake walk because some random poster from Fairfield predicted a 3 score win.
I also feel confident that there are folks associated with Montini who are well aware of Considine’s status.
I’d bet the only “extra” motivation or thought will come from the fact that these two teams played a very close game last year.

BYRON at MONTINI?

Im sure Montini's kids are thinking the same thing since mighty Byron has struggled this season. What Montini's players don't understand is Byron didn't have their main running back/Middle Linebacker for most of the season. Kids don't grasp what they can't see like adults and Im sure they read boards like these and seeing crazy posts where Montini is going to win by 3 scores. They will believe it because they see it. They will get a lesson in indoctrination vs. reality!!!!

I’m sure coach Bu doesn’t have internet access and isn’t aware that Byron was missing their best player for most of the year. Instead of getting ready for this game they are planning their state championship parade

A favorite time of year...Proposed IHSA By-Law Amendments are live

My thoughts by proposal

1- Seems like a good reasonable idea, I hope it passes
2- Seems reasonable, though I hope most superintendents have better things to do with their time
3- Like this alot, especially if it means pushing down more sport-specific decision making
4- Hate this. Bad idea to create a special organization to manage eligibility
5- Probably my favorite proposal of the year. not sure why it didnt pass last year. Could be big boon for developing sports like lacrosse, flag football, girls wrestling, etc.
6- Hate this. Understand the proposal it is trying to solve, but you are going to make a ref shortage worse and this will dramatically increase number of cancelled games due to lack of refs.
7- Decent idea, but never gonna pass
8- Very curious about whether this passes. I think it is some good common sense and provides help for kids withiout stable home lives. However, it is ripe for corruption and abuse.
9- same thoughts as 9
10- same thoughts of 8,9. I assume only one of these will make final vote.
11- Never gonna happen.
12- Think it makes sense and it a good common sense rule. Because of that, I doubt it passes
13- See my comments for 8
14- If this makes it to a vote, yay votes under 30 is a definite possibility
15- don't really understand this proposal or its impact
16- really like it and hope it passes due to the chaos it created this past year
17- really like this from a student health perspective, but know that summer camps are a big revenue drive for most schools so I know the chances of passing are slim.
18- In competition for proposal #14 for fewest votes received. Didn't realize that the Lab School took tennis so seriously.
19- probably most mean spirited proposal of the year, but I think this gets more votes than most will expect
20- Hate this. I realize that some kids can get impacted by adult, but by saying a key rule doesn't matter just sets up opporutnities for corruption.
21 -- Hate this. most teams already play too many games, especially baseball and softball. No need to add more
22- Hate the proposal, but think there does need to be some regulation around prep bowl in terms of spacing out games for student safety reasons
23- I have no opinions about Cheerleading other than Bring It On was an underrated RomCom.
24 -- see #23
25- Agree with this, though realize it does give refs too much power in some cases
26- Don't like this. Principals needs to be responsible for their school. This won't pass

Peoria Notre Dame 59 Rochester 58 … “Houston, we have a problem”

All.... Quit trying to put lipstick on this pig. (lol) "appropriate penalty" look it up if you don't know what those words mean.

Ring gate..... Should of been several forfeits but the Ihsa loves your little darlings and kept it to just one with their warped thinking decision. And the self reporting was because a certain coach (non football) at RHS was raising a big stink and the word was out . It was spreading like a wild fire in Rocket town. It was going to get out. RHS had to limit the damage by doing so.

2. The kid. When the decision came down on that one he no longer could play for RHS. Sigh .... off to SHG he went. Oy....

And let's not forget number three the one of course you didn't reference. This latest one. A little tap on the finger. But those that read the investigative report (available to anyone) aren't going to forget words in the report.... assault and aggravated battery.

Hmmm..... "Are there others I'm not aware of." You tell me.... Ratsy

I don't know of any others....that is why I asked.

As for appropriate penalties...what objective measurement are you using to determine what is appropriate? Just your belief, or is there something else?

Player of the Year candidates?

This has been dicussed at Demo's quite a bit and while not consensus, most - and I am in this camp - choose Hickey, who was more muscled and ran meaner. Hickey ran a 4.4 and 10.7 100M - not sure of Dierre's numbers, but he was not carrying the same physique. Dierre runs more like Darond Stovall, the smoothest athlete I ever played with or saw as a contemporary.

Comparing our level of competition to this team is no match and football back then was much more violent. Either generation of play, I go with #22 over #10.

New IHSA bylaw proposal seeks to eliminate Prep Bowl

As a member of CPS coaching committee I can assure you that this will never pass. The coaches committee has already rallied the principals and ADs against this, so this can go the route of clusters and will be flushed.

Great to hear, coach.

Can you share with us what the rules are for CPL schools participating? How they "qualify", specifically schools from illini divisions compared to others.
