Althoff vs Camp Point

Ratsy - You can park in the school lot if there is space and there is parking at St. Henry's too. I have not seen the official "tailgate announcement" but I assume it will happen. Last week it started at 10:30 for the 1:00 start - lots of TVs to show the college games too.

The tickets are $10 at the gate or online at GoFan if you plan to sit. Otherwise, you can hang by the BBQ pit either on foot, or bring a chair. Let's coordinate.
All.... Sounds intriguing. Will await on tailgate announcement info. 🏈 I forgot to ask. Does Hickey ever show up for a game? Go Crusaders! Ratsy

4A Semi-Finals

I have U-High over Mt. Zion, to host the state total on their home field. In the North, I think DePaul gets it done, but deep down I want a Coal City/U-High rematch to avenge the loss last year. Regardless of who wins the North, if U-High wins the South, I like their chances to bring it all home with their near-unstoppable offense on their home field.
It would be awesome for a team to get a chance win it all on their home field. Couldn't imagine what that would feel like. That game last year was a complete mudfest with Coal City being the only team to seem to adapt to the elements. I don't think they run any of that under center stuff this year. Won't be an issue either way if there happens to be a rematch.

ICE Semis

Great run by both teams. Good showing for the ICE. I think the conference has shown that they have two very good teams, 2 average teams and 4 very bad teams. Hopefully the rest can start building those teams back

Wilmo is in a tough spot with losing Farrell on the first play last week. But Reents is one of the best to ever do it, and he will have these guys prepared and ready to go. That being said I don't think they will have enough to get the win. Cats lose by two scores. But a great season

Coalers have surprised me. At the beginning of the year, I thought they were better than last year but not this good. They are on a roll and have been playing very good since the Morris loss. DePaul is big and athletic. CC has to play mistake free and be able to take some deep shots downfield at the right time. I think Benson will have to be ready to be the bell cow and grind down the defense. CC defense will need 3 to 4 takeaways to keep the Rams offense behind the 8 ball. Its a long shot but I will take the Coalers by 1 point

Very impressed with the Coalers coaching staff this season. They brought in some young CC Alum who have college football playing experience and had rejuvenated the program. hats off to them

Bears

I haven't heard anyone say something about what Eberfool may have been thinking. Someone may have brought this point up and I didn't hear or read it. During the last drive they decided to let the clock run down instead of trying to get a few more yards and move the FG attempt up. I have to wonder if maybe Eberfool trusted his kicking game more than his offense.

I don't think he can win either way. If they run a pass play and Williams throws a pick, or suppose he gets sacked for a 10 yard loss or more? Now you have a long FG to make. Suppose they run and the back gets hit and coughs up the football? There would be huge criticism if one of those scenarios occurred. The Bears don't have a good offense. But they do have a good kicking game, a very good kicker and a successful FG from that distance is very common in the league.

I really can't fault Eberflus on how the game ended. You send in your FG team and they are expected to execute. It wasn't like this was a 55 yard attempt. GB made a play and the Bears didn't.
He said that in his press conference and doubled down on it.
Of all his "questionable" coaching missteps I can at least find his logic. Many times I don't see his logic.
Yes, it is a relatively basic kick in this NFL but Santos doesn't have the huge leg that many in the league have now. He tops out at around 53 yards. With his "shorter" distance his kicks have a lower trajectory something GB coaches said postgame. Also, the D is givcing max effort on that last second FG block as opposed to midgame...Manely mentioned that point on post game.
I would have gone with another run play but I don't have my job on the line. At this point it almost seems like whatever he choses to do is the wrong choice lol.

Althoff vs Camp Point

All.... Any Panthers faithful on the board? Since the rodent is planning to take in this game I'm curious on what the team brings to the table. I'm told on offense the Wing T and a pretty decent defense. Other then a scare from Routt and the two battles with Hardin (Calhoun) it has been relative smooth sailing.

Speaking of the game Crusader.... a couple of more questions if I may. Is the only parking around the school. I assume the area behind the Learning Center and Knights of Columbus is a no. What time does the pre game morning soiree behind St. Henry's get cranked up. Looking forward to that as well. 😇 Ratsy

Loyola (Hollywood) vs LW East (Beast)

Interesting question. I'm sure Jonas has matured a lot, but when he was a freshman at BB we beat them badly. His attitude and frustration got worse as the game went on. I don't think he will be in that situation though so they will be fine.
For the kid's sake, I hope that if it occurs, he steps up and delivers.

Success Factor/NAZ

All.... I talked with Flyer fans about this at the game last week. They have little interest playing in Class 5A which is why they petition up. Not that titles in 5A are beneath them but that is not the "Flyer way." They would like to go higher up in postseason play but of course can't because of their conference rules. Alton and Belleville (West) who are 7A size haven't made the postseason since 2018. They need to do away with that rule Quite adamant though they want a rematch with CG this year in the final. Ratsy
I respect that…

But my point is that there is an argument to be made that 5a would is more challenging that 6a.

Naz vs St Francis

While on my 3rd trip to the bathroom last night around 3am I was thinking about it and given the fact that Franny has an elite QB again this year and perhaps the greatest stable of skill positions ever assembled mixed with their uncanny ability to convert 4th downs and fake punts and Naz’s poor special teams performance in week 9 it’s just looking more and more like a clock situation. Especially with the way Franny held Naz in check only allowing 36 points. I know I said Franny -10 but I think the smart money is starting to come in now and it’s more like Franny -19
