Refs…

Saw a few replays on the NFHS broadcasted games today that gave better angles and 100% of the time the refs got some of the tougher calls correct. Were there mistakes today? Absolutely. Were any game outcomes impacted by those mistakes? Absolutely not. So quit whining.

They try to “slow” the game down sometimes that’s all! Pay attention

LW210 Football

How cool would a finals weekend have been with Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way East playing for titles at ISU? Lincoln-Way West was right there as well. Some exceptional football in the New Lenox, Frankfort area. Don’t want to leave out Providence Catholic also.
Yes ..very strong down in that area.. I was really hoping for an LW East versus Naperville Central rematch... but it didn't work out that way my friend.

Next season with the SWVC conference realignment Naperville Central moves into what was the Southwest Valley Conference Blue Division and the Redhawks will host the Griffins... I believe it is in week 7...Central swaps Andrew and Stagg for Neuqua Valley and HF.... Congratulations to your beloved Griffins on a great season.. .

Feeto's Friday Upset Special.......

Well I guess my first instinct was right and yesterdays call couldn’t have been much worse!
Those are two really good teams. I watched til early in the third quarter. Naz got off to a great start and rode that to a convincing victory. Games have ebbs and flows and if Naz hadn’t gotten off to that start it would’ve been a barn burner. But they got off to that start by great play from a great QB, team and game plan. Very impressed by both teams today.

Hilltoppers 42. Morris 7. FINAL nm

Re phrase:: no mortal public high school will ever beat JCA
I mean, that's definitely hyperbole. I won't dispute that most of the lower end playoff qualifiers likely don't match up well with JC or many of the 5A traditional powers so there are plenty of lopsided examples as well. But there are lots of examples of good JC teams being tripped up by real good (and even some merely slightly above average) public school teams.

21...Semifinal close call escape over Richmond-Burton
19....Quarterfinal Loss to Mascoutah
12....Quarterfinal last play 2PC stop to hang on by 1 over LWW
10...Quarterfinal loss to Richwoods
06,,,,,Round 1 loss to Morris
05......Quarterfinal loss to Morris
03...Quarterfinal close call escape over Morris
02....2nd round close call escape over Riverside-Brookfield
01...Quarterfinal all timer over Riverside-Brookfield and close call escape over Morris in the final
00....Semifinal great last minute win over Pontiac and come from behind final win over Metamora
99....Quarterfinal Morris missed knocking JC off by a missed FG as time expired

2 of our better squads over the last 15 years lost to fairly nondescript public school teams. Then there were all those examples of close calls where just a few plays either way and JC finds themselves losing to a public school team.

Refs…

It’s a really tough job, no doubt.

But system changes and reforms are in order to improve refereeing and protect the integrity of the game.

First- refs don’t make enough— $90 per game is a lower hourly rate than my teenager makes some nights babysitting.

The monopoly IHSA cries over a (real) referee shortage while it takes a piece of every fee, while adding zero value and purposefully preventing the free market from working. If it were, refs would make twice what they get now. And more for bigger games.

The IHSA self-inflicted “shortage” leads to a situation in which it has to keep around bad referees, for fear of offending any and not having enough.

Let the better crews make more money— as schools bid them up because they know they do a good job.

And let the worst ones — the lazy refs who don’t know high school football rules, who let their biases drive their calls in the game and who want the game to end as fast as possible— be punished.

That’s punished by the IHSA, which needs to play a regulatory role and acknowledge egregious calls, not pretend they didn’t happen, or get out of the refereeing business.

And punished by the marketplace itself, which would push out bad referees were it be allowed to work.

York 20 NC 13 1:32 4th

York played a good game. It was my first time watching either team this season but it didn't look like NC just giving it away or shooting themselves in the foot. York D was tough and their QB is good enough to make plays in air and ground.

It was a joke. Last week someone said Warren didn’t show up to play that’s why York blew them out
