You know I wasn’t going to say it during the game while emotions were high and Franny still had a shot at coming back so I kept it on a side chat but after that end of half debacle I said to a buddy just imagine how dangerous they could have been the last few years with a coaching staff. I whole heartedly believe that is/was the difference. Franny has so much talent like Naz and sure people can say the talent on Franny is young and Naz is more experienced. Two years ago the same experienced talent was inexperienced and they won their first of hopefully 3. So it’s not the lack of talent, it’s not the age of the talent so that only leaves coaching. They beat great teams the last few years including Loyola and Naz this year on their talent alone and that’s impressive. Hopefully for the young talent sake Franny can get over the hump. At least they won’t have to worry about beating the best two teams they will have been punished for being too good in 5a next year.

Wins and losses are what come first. And points scored and given up are what most directly lead to wins and losses. I don't care if the Bears give up yards as long as it isn't leading to a lot of points scored. And at this point in the season it hasn't.

Again I will point you to the fact that the Bears are giving up only 19 points per game and ask you once again, show me another team that has given on average less than 20 points a game but has only four wins. The defense isn't the problem here. What more do you want? I will take an average of less than 20 points a game and be happy with it.

The SF play where the entire OL shifts…they did it a few times. Naz jumped on o e and was called for offsides, the other time it was a bad snap and a sack, not sure what happened the 3rd time.

My point is..do it once and then be done with it. It’s a gimmick play they used multiple times. As others have said - they’re a good team and don’t need to be doing plays like these.

At the end of 2Q, I thought they should’ve settled for the FG. It was a short kick. Score is then 20-10, they get the ball back to start 2H which eventually turned into a run back would’ve made it 20-17. Instead, SF runs the Philly special and is snuffed out. Result - 0 pts.

They are top 10 in scoring defense and yards/game. They are 11 in rushing yards allowed per game. A top 10 defense is what was expected and that's what they are.

Football Enrollment

Its been tossed around before, but I don't think I've seen anyone take a formal attempt at laying out what it would look like.

Below posts will be a look at a Football Enrollment methodology.

Basic Method;
1. Your Football enrollment is your opponents enrollment averaged, with the top and bottom enrollment eliminated
2. I excluded out of state opponents
3. This was a judgement call, but I multiplied all private school enrollment figures. I think if a modernized FE were to be implemented this would need to be looked at. It didn't have huge impact if I did it on unmultiplied. For the private schools, an average change of 192 to the football enrollment number. Seemed to impact the smaller private schools more than the CCL/ESCC guys.

Results by class will be in the post below. Here are the cutoffs though compared to the current enrollment cutoffs in 2024

Not to be unexpected, but I'll point out that at least a couple traditional power public school programs / recent state finalists have as well: Rochester 5A, Cary Grove 7A, Prairie Ridge 7A, Kankakee 7A (probably more, but those were a few I noticed)

Finals predictions: Closest and Most lopsided title games

Belleville (Althoff Catholic) -18. The Crusaders can key on the run game (23 pass attempts) and Dowell has a huge game. Althoff O will be too much.

Maroa (M.-Forsyth) -2.5. Experience will be a big factor here.

Lombard (Montini) -33. Monticello is not gonna be ready for what awaits them.

Mt. Zion -3. Watched them shut down a really good Breese Central team and I know nothing about DePaul, except that their facilities look awesome.

LaGrange Park (Nazareth Academy) -15. Naz is too much and they will wear down the Hillmen.

East St. Louis (Sr.) -24. I see Bass shutting down Taylor and the other CBs getting picks off hurried throws.

Chicago (Mt. Carmel) -9. Lynch has his team humming, and the CMC victory song will be played at the end of this contest.

Wilmette (Loyola Academy) -10. The second-best team in the state should roll.
