Just some random posting of information. Overall, most of the schools saw a drop in a enrollment numbers. I know Sterling was over 1,000 students in 2018, and now 7 years later is under 900. Looking forward to seeing the schedules when they come out, specially with Alleman announcing that they will play a varsity football schedule.

School: 2025-26 (2023-2024) difference

Moline: 1938 (2093) -155

United Township: 1869 (1740) +129

Quincy: 1785 (1876) -91

Rock Island: 1704 (1686) +18

Galesburg: 1120 (1232) -112

Sterling: 890 (978) -88

Geneseo: 794 (840) -46

Alleman: 285 (329) -44

All.... Playoff cut lines are going to be crazy this season with the new one year enrollment. Look for more teams then usual changing postseason class play at that time. Ratsy

Schedule on il.8to18.com has Sycamore visiting Moline week 2. Only team I think that has an open slot currently is Sterling week 2. Hoping they can fill it with a CCL team as they have been doing in recent years.

Quincy out here looking from easy dubs from QND's leftovers... Boonville couldn't keep up with the Catholic kids in Quincy, how do they think they'll do any better against a stronger 7A pub? I guess they may be desperate for games, who knows.

Glad Alleman has life again... always felt bad for how that program was shuttered, and the reasons why. Hopefully in not so long they'll be back to annual playoff contenders.

If I am the AD/Administration at Alleman I'm looking to get us in the Three Rivers Conference asap. The WB6 is just far too large for them today as their numbers will only continue to dwindle.

Have to love Illinois. Enrollment can drop and you move up the list because others are dropping faster.

Alleman is a founding member of the WB6 when it was created in 1969. That would be a sad departure for sure. The WB6, for better or worse, has always been loyal and have chosen to remain one group as tides have come in and gone out in the landscape that is Illinois athletics. It was a huge deal when they agreed to allow others into their sacred world. I mean the basketball history alone in the WB6 is insane, and Alleman is a part of that.

And while I can't see it happening, meaning I can't fathom the WB6 without Alleman, you're probably right. They're only going to be slaughtered in their present situation.

Was Alleman able to continue either Freshman or JV football during the period they weren't playing a varsity schedule?

Yeah, I'm not too sure how well this season will pan out for them. I hope they have some success or at least competitive. All the schools are huge compared to Alleman, and the biggest four have a large student lead on the smaller four.

All.... Golden Warrior with your schools new enrollment drop you folks could be flirting come playoff time between 5A and 4A. Sterling ending up in 4A could do some real damage on teams in that north bracket. 2025 is shaping up to possibly be a crazy year with team movement in different classes. Ratsy

I just see it as Alleman has an enrollment more similar to Newman Central Catholic than it does to Quincy and Moline.

I understand the history being a founder of the WB6, but being a doormat in athletics won't keep your doors open.

The teams moving around will definitely bear watching. Hoping Sterling fixed it's Oline issues from last year and the young kids did some growing up. Have to fill that pesky quarterback position also. Sometimes I miss when we just ran Wing-T lol.

That will be interesting to say the least.

to be fair, alleman is not a doormat in all sports. but they have struggled mightily the last few years in the "big sports" (football and boys basketball). i'm told their enrollment has remained steady recently and is moving in the right direction. additionally, i'm not sure any "small school" conferences around this area would want them.

We're also looking at this in terms of what Alleman is facing NOW. Historically Alleman has done just fine holding their own in the WB6 for football. It wasn't much before 2020 that they were generally considered a lock in 4A for the quarterfinals out of the north.

Since 2020 though, Quincy has seen a surge in talent, Moline is gaining traction and putting out strong teams... But at the same time Rocky has fallen on hard times, Galesburg and UT remain average at best. The additions of Geneseo and Sterling certainly didn't do Alleman any favors, that much is true. Both are very good programs with title aspirations at the top of their list often or always.

Under Dave DeJaegher, Alleman posted three title game appearances ('05, '10, '12). One of them in 5A (05). Dave boasted a 113-43 record during his time at Alleman from 2001-2014. Once coach DeJaegher left the program saw an immediate decline. Very next year they went 3-6, followed by 2-7 and then three consecutive one-and-done's in the playoffs before Covid hit. Obviously we all know what happened next and it was largely out of Alleman's control and most of those families never returned to their side of the river.

If we're being honest, or if I am, I'm still in shock that Alleman survived and hasn't shuttered entirely. Props to those in their foundation office for working magic to keep the school afloat at least.

If the Big Northern wasn't a closed conference, that would be my suggestion. Good mix of 3A and 4A schools, and outside of Bryon and Dixon, schools Alleman could compete with as it currently is.

I also wanted to note that Quincy's enrollment is down 91 kids according to orig post on this thread... I would expect that to be the trend for QHS over the next decade. I'd be shocked if they don't wind up on the 6A/7A bubble line here sooner than later. I don't believe their classes at QJHS and the middle schools are very large. The enrollment trend at both has been a decrease since about 2018.
