Frankfort (Ill.) Lincoln Way East sophomore defensive end recruit Devin O'Rourke (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) was able to make recent recruiting visits to Illinois and Purdue. O'Rourke checks in and recaps his layest visits and more here.
"I was able to get out and visit Purdue and Illinois" O'Rourke said. "I visited Purdue last Saturday and then I went down to visit Illinois a few days ago."
O'Rourke filled us in on his visits to Purdue and Illinois.
"I visited Purdue last Saturday and it was a good visit. I went to the Purdue spring game. I was able to take a tour of the campus. I would say that the campus really stood out to me at Purdue. it's just very compact but it's also very nice."
"I went down to Illinois a few days ago and the visit went really well. I was able to meet and talk to head coach Lovie Smith and he was really impressive and everyone including the team was very friendly at Illinois. This was my first visit to Illinois as a recruit. I had a really good talk with Coach Smith. We talked about his plan for the football program and overall was just very personal. I also was able to get to know Illinois defensive line coach Mike Phair. Coach Phair talked to me about how he coaches his linemen and I was just very impressed with all of the coaches at Illinois. Illinois hasn't offered me yet. They plan to be in school soon and they also want me to stay in touch and build up a relationship. "
O'Rourke has also begun to see a few college coaches in school.
"Both Syracuse and Nevada have been in school so far."
My Take on Devin O'Rourke recruiting? Will just be a matter of time before the Big Ten school start to get serious with O'Rourke. This kid has tremendous upside and will be a highly sought after name in the Class of 2018.
