Sterling Newman High School has named Brandon (oops -- had it Brendon) Kreczmer as its head football coach.
He replaces Hall of Fame coach Mike Papoccia, who stepped down at seasons end after 39 season's during which he led the Comets to five state championships.
It looks like Kreczmer has spent the past five seasons on the Newman staff. Most recently he served as the team's defensive coordinator.
He is a former All-State player at (Chicago) St. Patrick and was a starting linebacker at Western Illinois.
