With regards to Lisle canceling their season…

Just checked the 8to18 and it looks like Thornton @ Wilmo week 6 is a go. Both Varsity and sophomore games. Bloom @ Coal City week 3 also.

Should be interesting. Some big time differences in enrollment.

Probably was smart on Streator's part. Realistically, are they going to make the playoffs? I doubt this makes or breaks their season. And they get a home game/revenue with an opponent who's not too far away and should bring some fans. Makes sense on all sides.

I agree.
They got a new head coach, trying to build their program, they likely aren’t going to make the playoffs even with a forfeit W. Might as well line up and play.
Dixon is good but it’s not like they are above the top level ICE teams that Streator already has to compete against.

I see that side as well. But Dixon is really really good. I get trying to step up and play great competition but

You think Dixon is better than Wilmington or Coal City? Streator already has to play them. Even if Dixon IS better than those two (which I don’t believe), it’s marginal at best.

It’s more about getting in a game vs. taking a bye. Streator likely knows who they are and just want to get a game in. Taking a L vs Dixon probably isn’t gonna ruin their season.

I believe Dixon lost to Byron by 1 and had a really close game vs CC in the quarters. But i could be mistaken. If that’s the case, then that’s gonna be a rough night for Streator.

I 100% agree that Dixon should easily handle Streator. I’m just saying that Streator already plays against teams of Dixon’s caliber; it’s not as if they picked up a game vs Loyola.

All.... Speaking of the Dukes. Taking out St. Laurence (now multiplied up) who Calpreps had preseason rated #1 Dixon now takes that spot. Of course the Skins should they go 4A might have something to say about the rating as well as a few others. Ratsy

Other side of this story - Dixon has been looking for a game for several months. The opening in the conference will be gone next year, but they have been trying very very hard to find something.

What are the way too early top 4A teams this year? CC will be better than last year. They are going to have a very good next two seasons

From 4A South, Rochester, Mt Zion, Cahokia, and Waterloo should be in the mix. Breese Central and Peoria Notre Dame were impressive last year as well but have been hit hard by graduation. Normal U High, which made the 4A South semi's last year, will be 5A this year.

It will be interesting to see if the enrollment and success factor changes place some unexpected teams in 4A once the playoffs begin.

I figured Rochester wouldn't be down for long

Ratings are meaningless
