I'm fine with it. To me, it's only entertainment value to indicate your convictions on who you think wins/loses. Instead of stating you think a team is going to get killed, you put numbers to it, like Team A(+16)

If we are talking about general sports gambling, I'm a hard pass. The noise around sports gambling can be deafening and I feel like it's not needed on this board.

I'm inclined to think discussions of point spreads and odds are harmless; and even a contest such as the "Semi-Final Point Spread Challenge" represents harmless entertainment. However, I'm also inclined to think any discussion of exchanging items of value depending on the outcomes of games should be prohibited. Items of value would basically include everything except bragging rights. There ought to be no discussions of paying cash, buying lunch, making donations to charities, wearing specific clothing, cutting someone's grass, or anything else other than bragging rights. Without such a prohibition it would be too easy for this site to deteriorate into a gambling site rather than a high school football message board.

This is just one man's opinion.

I don’t gamble. I found long ago I have no luck. I work hard to earn my money so gambling is like throwing my money away. If people here want to gamble I don’t care one way or the other just as long every thread doesn’t turn into a bet.

🙂 For the record, MA only lost by 7 to Fenwick and that was playing a chunk of the game without a QB (only had one all season) who was knocked out.

Its a public board. So on one hand you can choose what you follow and what you choose not to. Not my board, but with kids frequenting it, I think that has to be considered. We are all adults here, okay maybe not actually......at the end of the day, makes no difference to me. But with the player traffic here, it would be a no if I was making the call. I like the Feeto upset and the Clown Cup, others the same as that. Again, public board, if you are looking for it you can find it somewhere.

Am I missing something here? I was under the impression picking these semifinal games against the spread was strictly for entertainment purposes. I submitted my picks, I don’t remember putting any money on it though.

This was created strictly for entertainment purposes. And at no point was there any intent to the contrary.

My thought was this… 80% of the games there is a clear favorite. Most, if not all, will pick the clear favorite. That leaves 20% of the games that are should be competitive.

So why not add in a point spread? If you take a closer look at the challenge submittals, there is a much more evenly balanced # teams picked on both sides. And that was the intent. Make people think and pick against teams like JCA and ESL. Should have put larger spreads on those games to even the picks.

so yesterday a friend of mine sent me a legit parlay card for the Ohio state playoff games. Looked like it was made at Mandalay Bay. I love the spreads and chatter please don’t flush.
