Running clock for the Cyclones by halftime. Time to get the reserves in.

Spring Valley avoids the shutout but clearly overmatched.

Read a twitter account that SHG was up over 40 with under a minute or two to go in half. They called time outs to force a punt and get the ball back. Then scored again to go up 48-0.

If true, why? Get to half up 40 and let that clock run in the second half.

All.... Try to figure it out "Guido". Maybe spend more time thinking out how to get out of the north bracket instead of stupid yapping about the south 16. Have a pleasant evening.... Ratsy

I was just trying to confirm if it actually happened. And if so, if there was a reason.

I asked because it sounds like something beneath the usually top notch SHG staff.

I don’t know if the name calling was in gest or not, but that’s not usually who you are ratsy.

and don’t worry, your north opponent will most likely not be my beloved Hilltoppers. If the Hilltoppers can survive the gauntlet of PC, RB, and then SF-statistically unlikely though it mag be- then they may be entering Champaign as kryptonite ready to roll anything…..or due for a letdown after three such tough games.

You have to excuse Ratsy as either his Rib eye at tailgate was not cooked to his liking or he was unsuccessful in making his move (see game threat) or both.

All.... Coming from someone and I quote (you) "all you have to do is the eye test to know that Montini would beat SHG 19 times out of 20." Yapped in 2013. And all knew what happened to your team and SHG that year. Ratsy P.S. Rodents have long memories.

A wrong opinion has been registered in your memory for 9 years?

mea culpa.

I was wrong. I’ll be wrong again many times.

do you believe this to indicate that I have an axe to grind with SHG? They’re one of my favorite programs in the state not named Joliet catholic.

sincerely not sure what you’re getting at here…that I was wrong on that one game? Or that this is indicative of some anti-cyclone conspiracy in the north?

do I get points in your book for thinking the JC-SHG matchups in 2011 and 2021 would come down to the wire when they were both over before halftime in JC’s favor? I’m usually more timid when my projections cover my team and more bold when I am a third party.

I assume the 2013 comment that you have apparently bookmarked came after watching an Uber talented montini beat a real good JC team. Again, really not sure if you are playing or if you really feel a slight. If the latter, I feel you may be putting too much stock into random posters prognostications….

I was just thinking, maybe if successful programs have fans that save the receipts on bold projections from opposing fans, maybe I’ve been doing fandom and this board all wrong. Instead of a light hearted release to share opinions, maybe I should be collecting receipts and holding grudges when others wrongly underestimate my team.

please note that it won’t be this year as anyone who picked JC to win 4a is riding an underdog, so it’s totally ok to predict against them.

and this animus all because I dared ask why a program I like and respect wasn’t content being up 41-0 at half??? It wasn’t an attack, just a question looking for some context or, as I would answer for my team if the shoe was switched “yea I don’t know why the staff made that decision. Not something I would have done, but maybe they wanted to work on the two minute drill.” Which would be a totally fine explanation.

instead I got “worry about the north” and a 9 year old quote. All from a guy who I consider one of my favorite posters on this board. Yeeeesh. What a day.

All.... Edit haaaa. Bookmarked no. Something an unhappy child would say on a sports forum board one never forgets. (lol) Oh my someone is hurt in the backside and it' not me.... Edit all night long after my comment if it makes you feel better. "19 out of 20". What happened the following year. (2014) Pleasant dreams Hilltopper have to go. Ratsy

I have no idea what you are saying. I like you ratsy. I’ll bid you good night and hope you sleep it off.

and again, in 2011 and 2021 I honestly thought the game would come down to a final drive and perhaps who had the ball last and I couldn’t have been more wrong. JC was either better than I thought or SHG not up to par for what I believed them to be that year.

don’t those two examples of me overestimating SHG compensate for an example of me underestimating them? Or perhaps more a case of overestimating montini in 13 coming off 4 straight years where they ended my season????

bottom line, don’t trust me with any takes on SHG because I don’t see them much all year. That’s why I depend on guys like you to give me your assessment. I will surely over or underestimate them if left to my own devices.

Any animus from SHG fan(s) is lost on me, but I'm a lowly 2A/3A guy. They always seemed like a fun team to root for on Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Totally agree. Assuming JC drops one of the next few games, I will definitely be rooting for Leonard to go out on top.

and in addition to liking SHG, I have always really liked ratsys posts. I’m not sure if he is just not himself tonight or if he is turning fully heel.

and all for a question that could have been satisfied with a simple “I guess they wanted to rep their two minute drill one more time” which would make sense to me. Instead the affable and well liked ratsy assumes the worst and combines it with a decade old prediction to assume the world is against SHG?

When you wake up and shake it off ratsy……

In 2011 I thought SHG-JC was a pick ‘em. I overestimated SHG by 40 points.

in 2013 I thought montini would handle SHG…..i underestimated SHG by 40 points.

in 2021 I thought SHG-JC was a pick ‘em. I overestimated SHG by 30-40 points.

is picking out and remembering my prediction from 2013 some type of jordanesque strategy to keep you hungry?

I admit to knowing very little of SHG most years other than hearing their results, which has minimal meaning in a now closed conference. I will still make predictions all the time. I’ll be wrong a lot. None of them will be worth remembering years later.

if someone says providence should handle JC next week and manhandle them by 2-3 scores and JC wins convincingly, I can’t imagine ever remembering that prediction years later and pretending to be bothered by it. That’s why I’m convinced this whole thing is a bit.

No one who entered Memorial Stadium on that gale force wind day thought the game would be a blow out but that is life. I left sadly shocked that a really good SH-G team could be so humbled. Last year's title game was a long shot for the Cyc's as none of us really thought we'd get that far and JC was loaded! As to Spring Valley-Hall, their fans were loyal to the very end and they proudly cheered their team walking off the field.
