Deerfield (Ill.) junior defensive end recruit Josh Maize (6-foot-4, 180 pounds) has a handful of offer so far this spring and is the best still to come? Maize discusses his latest recruiting news and more here.
"My recruiting has been going well," Maize said. "NIU was my latest offer and I'm also starting to hear from more and more schools who all plan to make in school visits this spring."
Maize talked about some new schools who have started to take notice of him this spring.
"Iowa and Penn State have really picked things up. New Mexico State is also in touch quite a bit and they could be close to an offer. I'm also hearing a lot from Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Illinois. A lot of those coaches said they would be in school this spring to watch me working out."
Maize also has a few upcoming visits to come.
"I'm planning to visit Illinois this Saturday. I'm also going to visit NIU for the spring game on April 23rd."
Has Maize named any favorites?
"It's still too early for me to name a favorite. Some of the bigger schools like Penn State, Michigan State and Illinois all want me workout or camp this summer and I'm definitely interested in all three schools."
Maize also has a time frame for making a college choice.
"I've given that a lot of thought and In want to have my recruiting done. before the start of my senior season."
EDGY's Take on Josh Maize: Maize again has the size and game that could take him to a Power 5 school. Several coaches plan to visit Deerfield starting next week and if I had to pick a few kids who's stock could potentially take off Josh Maize to me would be a good name to bet on.
