When Edgy joined Marquee Sports Network a couple of years ago, I thought the network was going to start covering high school sports a little more often. Obviously the Cubs are king, but I would have thought Marquee would take the place of the late, great High School Lites that aired on soon-to-be defunct NBC Sports Chicago. But nothing has come of Edgy joining the network (not sure if they’re still working with him TBH), and it looks like there will be no high school highlights show on TV again in the Chicago area this fall. And frankly I am not sure if there will ever be one again. Too bad.

Yeah it's a bummer for sure......I'm doing stories this season for the Daily Herald (and also it seems Shaw papers) and Marquee is great but you nailed it the Cubs are the top priority and by the time they are done in a normal no playoff season it's already late September early October. Those highlight shows are incredibly demanding (profitable? yes) and require a ton of resources.

I'm planning to continue to contribute to IHSA TV when needed etc.

Marquee Sports Network announced it will air seven live student-produced high school football games beginning Friday with Marist-Brother Rice. Other September games:9/20 St. Charles North @ Batavia9/27 Glenbrook North @ Deerfield

Bring back Inside Local Sports on the Romeoville cable channel from the late ‘80’s. I believe this was the where it all began for Edgy.

I joined Marquee with high hopes that they would get back into things....but once I was around a bit got the feeling that the business plans just would not go anywhere close to my hopes. Great people there and no hard feelings at all but they just won't have the resources to pull off what I was hoping they could pull off.

I can also tell you I'm hoping for ome upcoming network to possibly get back into the TV side and preps....but that won't happen for some time.

Or Joe Snaidauf from Jones Intercable in the early 90s.
Joe took over the St. Rita PA booth after the IHSA Hall of Famer Jim O’Boye retired. Joe is a 1984 graduate of St. Rita. I think he has his youngest in college.

Like you, I would love to see him running a production magnifying local HS sports. His knowledge of the south burbs, the west burbs and CCL/ESCC added with his enthusiasm and energy he brings would be pretty dang good.
