NFHS Rule Changes

The move where teams will have the O line stand up at the same time to get an off sides penalty…. Should not be legal
I believe by NFHS standards it is, but it is interpreted differently in IL. At least that's what I remember hearing

I had been thinking about starting a thread on this topic. If everyone saw the rule there would be more complaining that the Illinois interpretation should be changed.

The out of state teams bite on the O line movement more than anyone else

Watch the ESL vs IMG game…

IMG gave up at least 3 first downs over it

How about delay of game penalties for these clowns that come on the field in violation of knee covering rules?

I would also like to see player “injuries” being used as a quick time out

I saw a lot of travel teams use this to their advantage

Don’t necessarily have to determine fake vs. real. If play is stopped for an injury that player could have a minimum # of plays on the sideline, although i acknowledge it would be difficult to track.

That's what, I think, Lane Kiffin suggested. It may be a deterrent but I'm not sure it would stop it, unfortunately.

Not entirely sure I like being in agreement with Lane Kiffin, but deterring is probably the best we can hope for. Set # of plays sitting out, violating that results in a 15 yd unsportsmanlike penalty.

If a player “flops” or is injured, let them sit for two consecutive series of play… that can extend to the following game

So if a kid goes down with cramps in the early weeks of the season he would have to sit out 2 whole series? Seems excessive.

I don’t think that it stops, but it certainly deters

does it though???

He has cramps…. He might sit for that period anyway

Or he may just need the cramps worked out and could go back in 2 plays later. What about a player that is cut? The ref makes him get bandaged up, does he have to sit out 2 series when he could get wrapped up and only miss one play?

As it so happens, which is quite convenient for this discussion, the NCAA rules committee just announced a proposal for fake injuries where any player receiving medical attention would need to sit out the rest of that series.
