New 6a conversation

Lake forest was at home last time but yeah still a very impressive win. Some keys to the game (I watched the first game)

1. Can lville get the running game going? According to maxpreps, 15 carries for 14 yards in the first game. Starting RB was out and is now back so will see what kind of difference that makes.

2. Who gets the early momentum and can they maintain it? Lville went up 21-7 in the first quarter and then LF picked themselves off the canvas ala Tyson Fury during his 1st deontay wilder fight

2. Can Lake Forest get pressure on Schambow like they did in the first game? Believe they had 5 sacks including a huge strip sack in the second half. I believe Schambow had been sacked less than 5 times all season prior to that game.

3. Which team is more disciplined? Lville shot themselves repeatedly with offensive penalties in the first game that stalled out a lot of their drives.

4. Who will make the better adjustments on defense? Both teams went up and down the field in the first game

Should be a fantastic game, wish we could get some announcers on NFHS…

Thanks for that correction on location. Great synopsis of the game as I watched after my son's game that night. Libertyville needs to clean their camera lens on NFHS feed as it was cloudy telecast for the playoff game last week. I think the key for any team playing Libertyville is can they get pressure on Schambow. Lake Forest is the only team that really made an extra effort to do it and it paid off with a couple of unforced errors. Cary Grove did a great job against Lib in playoffs last year utilizing 3 down linemen and 6 backers essentially taking away the short passing lanes Lib likes throwing to. Was not impressed with Lake Forest when we played them but maybe they didn't put the foot down on the gas in a meaningless game for them a few weeks ago. Van Camp is a big sturdy QB and WR's Markee and Hartline can make plays but run game seemed non existent. I expect Lib to patch up some holes from last meeting and win by a couple TD's. I will see ya there weather looks like it will be nice for early November.

Very thorough analysis of Libertyville/Lake Forest first game, thanks. Libertyville will have the home court advantage, and added incentive (huge) for this playoff game. Cats will also have RB Strelow returning after lingering injury. That is significant; should open-up the field and require Scout defensive adjustments.

Do not short-change the Lake Forest Scouts. They are talented, smart, and battle tested. The Scouts will not travel to Libertyville just to show the flag, they have been in the fire before, and will play to win.

On paper Libertyville Wildcats win. Schambow, Lavista, et al will put big numbers on board, tough to stop the second time-around.

I like the attention this game is attracting! This should be a hard fought game and it's tough to beat a team twice in one season. That being said, LF always plays Libertyville tough. Coaching will play a big part in this game(always does) so I'd lean to LF pulling this one out. I hope I'm wrong, long time LHS parent. See you there.

Based on what I've read, it sounds like both teams will be going into this game on a health upswing which is always good to see. LF had lost 3/5 of their starting offensive line at midseason and was down to their fourth RB week 9 at Mundelein but both the starting left tackle and starting RB are expected to play Saturday...same is obviously true for Libertyville with the return of their starting RB.

This will be a very difficult game for LF to win and it feels more like a quarterfinals matchup one round early... hopefully will be a great game.

Burlington Central at Geneva is an interesting one. I think BC can beat Geneva if Geneva doesn’t play their best.
Burlington central can definitely give Geneva fits, BC is battle tested, they also beat Praire ridge by a wide margin. Cary-Grove didn’t get a huge win against them as well.
