Let's talk 6a bracket.

Yes, because, again from their perspective, the good public school team will have earned its success fairly whereas the good private school team will have obtained its success unfairly. To Antioch, it is a matter of principle.
I know you are playing devils advocate here, but that would be such a losers mentality (which is sort of what it appears the Antioch coaches have). To claim some sort of moral or principled victory by losing in the playoffs to a public vs private schools is hard to understand. 2 years ago Antioch opened their season @Carmel and lost by 3. Last year they lose to that same team by 40 and now they are throwing a pity party about how unfair it is to have to play them.

Which is funny, because one could very easily argue that an institution (and it's associated athletic programs) who receives state + municipal funding and is allocated a captive geographic monopoly on free education has obtained something...

Whereas a self-funded institution (and it's associated athletic programs) forced to offer an expensive product in a crowded, competitive market has earned something...

But I digress! Two devil's advocates going back and forth won't get us anywhere. They are certainly entitled to both their perspective and their 6A berth!

Antioch would like a word.

It all starts and ends with the fighting Sequoit‘s.

Since you’re all wondering…..The word “Sequoit” is a Native American word that means “smooth pebbles in the bed of a stream”.

2024 is the year for the smooth pebbles.
Come on man? you can't be serious. you guys just lost to Grant who got boat raced by Mundelein earlier this year. You may win your first game but you're not getting by any of those big three. I'm guessing when you lose your coach will be complaining about the seeding process!

I think this might add some perspective. Here is the Strength of Schedule for the top 16 seeds in 6A.

Won't be worth remembering because for the C-G machine, it's just a home game en route to what is possibly going to be the North Suburban Conference's EIGHTH straight appearance in the 6A title game.
It's just fine to be a darn-the-facts diehard fan of your favorite team. On this forum, there's a guy who is a diehard for Warren, who picks them to win every big game because he bleeds blue/gold, so you are not alone in bleeding your favorite team's colors. It's totally acceptable.
But the facts ... well, in the past seven playoff seasons (no 2020), the North Suburban Conference has had a team in the 6A state championship game every year. In that same seven-year span, the Northern Lake County Conference (Antioch's league) has had a league team advance to the quarterfinals (by winning two playoff games) exactly ONCE. And in that year, 2018, Antioch won its second-round game by beating another team from the Northern Lake County Conference.
A guess here is that the Northern Lake County Conference can be thought of in terms of football strength for smaller schools the same way that the Central Suburban North is thought of in terms of bigger schools. That is, it's great to be in the playoffs and, no, there is no path forward that leads to playing at ISU on Thanksgiving weekend.
As for those who kind of are chuckling at Antioch, which could have been a 5A team this year but opted to play 6A in order to have a better chance to compete against public schools in the postseason rather than playing against private schools, my guess is that Antioch is very very happy to be in their current playoff location.
That is, they have a very winnable home game against a Northern Lake County foe they've already beaten this season in Round 1, and then when they get taken to the woodshed in Round 2 by Cary-Grove, they will be sad the season is over, but happy that they were taken out by a public school on a level playing field. Losing to a better C-G team is acceptable. Getting whipped by Carmel last November had to be frustrating for those associated with the Sequoits.
Plus, they can compare their final score vs. C-G with the final score of C-G's Round 3 and 4 playoff scores to see if they could have advanced further if the luck of the draw had kept them away from Cary-Grove for more than one round.
Agree with what you are saying. I wish there were more people on this website that actually went to games outside of their own high school interest and saw some of these other players and teams and not just assume that their team is the best every single year. In regards to Antioch they are a big fish in a small stinky pond as that conference is hot garbage. If Antioch was in the North Suburban conference where they used to be 15 years ago or so they would be battling Mundelein for sixth place every year. They have the opportunity every year or two to pick up non-conference games against bigger schools or more competitive schools and they choose not to so they can go into the postseason excited about their eight and nine win record only to get bounced by legit teams.

Just wait - you’ll see.
