Neuqua 31 Palatine 8 Final

Swagger is the favorite. Neuqua has done nothing over the years to argue otherwise.
Buck,

if I’m reading correctly you will be playing at home. Assuming that’s the case I’ll set the opening spread at Neuqua -8.5 and the money line at -240. If you’re playing at swagger-3.5 and -150. I’ve got Neuqua at +110 to play for the Chip and +280 to win it all

Yep. On the Southside Saturday. The time hasn’t been posted but a lot of NV girls have a huge dance showcase Saturday night at Metea at 7:00. I would guess it will be a 1 or 2pm kickoff.

As for the line…this Neuqua team is indeed different than those in the past. It’s less explosive than the 2019 team but the D is much better.

Playing on the crowned natural grass field will probably help Neuqua. Not sure if Swagger has played on grass this year but it makes a huge difference, especially in the passing game.

The home field advantage to Neuqua on the visitors side at about the 20-30yard lines from the hash marks to the sideline of the north end is amazing on the double crowned grass/mud field. I predict long grass on a well irrigated field that might frustrate swagger a bit! I find it amazing that they still don’t have turf, and am beginning to think that might be with intention.

100% it’s with intention. The school has more than enough funds to put in a turf facility. But it is a huge advantage as it is. Completely different game on a crowned grass field.

That being said…..this is going to be a sledgehammer game. Man up and bring it. Typically I’d shy away from a Neuqua team when it comes to those variables. However, this Neuqua team has all of that in spades and then some (except the second NN game). Should be a good one.

Not only is it crowned, but it's uneven. I've seen junior high teams play on better fields. Huge advantage to NV. Especially with 90% if the MS offense being wide angled runs

Power,

see my comments above with specifics, that low spot makes a lot of throws by visitors not familiar become interceptions at worst and incomplete passes at best.

100%. It’s the same field they built in 1997. Nothing has changed.

NV is pretty effective with with wide runs utilizing Grant Larkin and Palmer Domschke. They didn’t need to do much of that against Palatine but it’s always good to have in your game calling quiver. Which brings me to my biggest concern for this game. NV utilizing their talent to the fullest vs going all Nagy and trying the old square peg/round hole route.

I’m not gonna give anything away but the field is less than symmetrical. As good as a bulldozer could have done in 96-97.

If you recall that field(more specifically the area between the hashes) was recrowned when they added the irrigation system and redid the track in the late 2000s. From sideline to the middle of the field I bet there is more than a foot of crown and from end zone to 50 probably even more. I still can’t believe grant is a Jr in High School. I remember when he was a little bobble head that wasn’t old enough to play football. They grow up and we grow old way too fast!
