One of the things I like about them Caravan is that if Elliott fails to connect with a receiver, he will go back to the same receiver on the next play or the next. Another is that Jordan Lynch is damn near a football wizard.

Congrats to the Caravan on their dominant victory. I don't think many people had SR reaching the semifinals this year.

Positive side: MC is in 8A for a couple of years, so Rita will avoid them in the playoffs.

Tip of the cap to you Rita fans. Nobody expected the game to go that way, I felt that my prediction was very likely at 27-17, it was just one of those games. Hats off to MC coaches for an excellent game plan offensively and defensively. And again to SR you guys had a great season. People may have forgot that you lost your # 1 receiver to Br. Rice in Jimmy Maxson and your # 2 receiver, whose name escapes me, Sam something, to Rich Township. You also had a top OL transfer to Rich Township and last year you lost that top DB to Kankakee who would have been a senior this year.....and you still made it to the Semifinals!! That's farther then the school Maxson left you for by 3 rounds! Be proud of what you accomplished. Rita isn't going anywhere and with MC going to 8A, Rita can be the team to beat in 7A the next couple years with the talent they have in the building. MC, don't lose that moxy you had today, keep this going and finish as Champions!!!! We are.....MC!!!

I do have a question: what specifically happened here? You think Rita was too confident? Aside from MC being just so damn prepared that nothing was going to stop them, was there anything else that contributed to this blowout? Like you, I thought it was going to be closer. More dominant line play? You think SR put a lot of energy into that Quincy game. Just looking for an answer.
As of this present time, SR could be even better next year.

I really think they should’ve ran the formation they had with JBuck single back with Herman at the slot or both in backfield and attacking the perimeter. They were moving the ball when that happened and they stopped utilizing that after they got down 14-0. They shouldn’t have abandoned that. Keep your best athletes out on the field at all times!

His time gets to be dedicated mostly to football instead of splitting time in the classroom like almost all high school coaches. An understated advantage for MC
I'll have to watch the game again Witty and give you a better answer. To quote Ron Burgandy "Boy that escalated quickly!" It was 7-0 after 1 and then it was 43-0 at half. Off the top of my head I don't understand why Buckner wasn't used offensively more. Everytime he seemed to run the ball this year he ran well. Him and Herman could have been a good Thunder and Lightning combo. This wasn't one of Armbrusters better games, he forced a lot of throws, some were just panic throws. Before the pick 6 there was 3 other throws that could have been pick 6's that MC dropped. After watching film of MC this year, like against Loyola and Normal I think they maybe thought it was going to be easier for them to get yards, but MC made a defensive alignment adjustment that really played into SR's offense well so kudos to Coach O'B and his defensive crew.
Defensively going man to man with MC's receivers is a risk. Burrell and Thorton are 6'3 and very athletic, it's tough to cover them 1 on 1 especially with Elliott at QB.
Besides MC, Rita, Rice, and Marist all have head coaches that are not in the classroom. And that’s off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more.
I wouldn't know about the other three. I know Rita's previous coach was and Marist's was at York. I know he got quite the deal to leave York. There may be more, that is still a definite advantage. Especially over public school coaches
By the way, I just find this disappointing over anything else. I think all high school coaches should be in the classroom or at least in administration where they are constantly in contact with students.
Being in the classroom and being constantly in contact with students are two VERY different things. I’m in the building. I know.
I'm aware of this as well. As you then should know, not being either of those things is an entirely different subset.
Why do you think the head coaches are not constantly in contact with the kids? Of course they are. They are in the building the entire day.
I know you'll think I'm just sticking up for him and trying to put your theory of him and other Coaches in similar situations to rest, but if you ever want to shadow Coach Lynch for a day, week, month, while he's at MC, his email is on the website I'm sure he'd love to have you or anyone else in who thinks he gets in the office, shuts the door and turns on HUDL until practice starts and then spends the off season on the golf course in to the school for a walk though for any extended period of time.
During the season he does start off watching HUDL of the day before practice film..... at 5:00 AM because come 7:00 AM it's non stop for him. Players, Coaches, Parents coming in, teachers needing to talk to him about student players, the Dean needing to talk to him about student players, yes I know every coach has to deal with this but at MC it's a tad more intensified, especially with the parents. Then with Catholic schools you got to keep kids in the building and coming to the school to assure the schools survival so he's dealing with the hundreds of possible incoming students daily, then of course they need to reach out to alums for donations and support to the school and what time better to reach out to the largest alumni base in the CCL then after a big win, because Catholic schools survive on donations and fund raising, which also comes with parents not only complaining to him about playing time but also because they can't afford the tuition this month and what can they do to make sure they don't get suspended until payment is made because it's not their sons fault that they got behind financially this month, then he has to help plan the upcoming fundraiser and come with the Powers that be to luncheons with alumni time and time again, he does what he can to help keep the lights on. It's just a different animal at Catholic Schools, especially nowadays it's a daily battle.
At school like MC you have a roster full of players that attract numerous coaches from Power 4 D1 to NAIA coaches, and they come to the school non stop to speak to him and then the players. And what about the students being overlooked that parents are demanding you make calls for them because it's your fault they didn't get more reps or playing time so they expect you to be the miracle man and get their son a scholarship becasue it's not their sons fault they didn't get the on the field, it's his fault (of course it's not but God forbid they hold their sons responsible).
I know it's an easy free shot to assume all these coaches not in the classroom have advantages with not having to deal with lesson plans and the daily grind of educating, for those coaches that do I give my upmost respect to you because it's a chore. Same to those coaches who also act as the AD's, like MC's Basketball Coach does, being an AD is one of the most difficult and time demanding jobs in the building. But all I can tell you is that Coach Lynchs docket is full each day and there isn't a whole lot of scheduled time for watching film and preparation. It's easy to assume but as the saying goes, walk a mile their shoes before you cast judgement.
I don't even see the Providence Coach name or info on their faculty directory on their website unless I'm missing something. Im sure Football coaches in the CCL who aren't in the classroom are the majority, not the minority.
@Jenny27 , just being in the building does not mean that everyone is the same. I suppose it would differ based on how you define constant. Student interaction from most to least for me would go teacher, TA, librarians, deans or assistant principals, I would then assume coach walking the halls/checking in on kids would go here, support staff, principal.
@McCaravan you're going full olderbytheminute lately with these posts! I never said he doesn't do anything all day. Of course he does! He's not successful on the field because he just sits around. I remember he used to have a title job too, like Director of Recruiting or something of the nature. Even doing those things it's still an advantage to have that focus whether it be on bringing in future players, x's and O's, opportunities for his players, or community engagement.

I’ll only speak on what I know, but he sees and interacts with those kids just as much as any one of the teachers does on a daily basis. And I’m not sure which Catholic high schools you’re familiar with, but the ones I am do not have TA’s, librarians, or much of any “support staff”. Coaches and teachers are your support staff.
