If you’re going to offer a sport, you should do everything you can do be great at it. It should be a priority.

Being a school of 400+…there’s no reason to not field a team. If you don’t, there’s an error in the process somewhere.

Quit making excuses for them.

Not making excuses and how do you know there's an error in the process? As I've also said, neither you nor I have any details as to why they're not fielding a team which is why I'm not passing judgement at this point.

Do you really think that every school that fields a team in whatever sport is doing all that they can to be great at that sport? I think you would be very disappointed in the answer to that question.

If a school offers 20+ sports programs and 40+ academic and social programs, by definition, they cannot all be a priority.

Some schools pour disproportionate resources into football. Some choose baseball. Some have chess teams with great resources, coaching, and enrollment.

Nobody has it all.

Not sure but according to IHSA.org, they are looking for an opponent week 6 this year.

They have an odd number of teams in conference.

Question. If your school drops football & you play or were going to play(it being your Frosh year at the school) are you eligible to transfer & play right away? Should be no question

Previous coach had them in the playoffs 5 out of his 7 years and two seasons after he’s gone - they can’t even field a team. In his tenure they were competitive with Wilmington (beat them and won conference in 2018) and Byron.

Again, should never happen.

Theres no excuse for this.

Argo is doing better but in the 80’s & I think back before would get 30ish to 40 kids out for football & that was pulling Sophs up & this was a school back then I’d say 1,500 enrollment. 86 Tinley Park won state with only 26 kids 1 being a soph. Had over 1,000 enrollment

Re: Thornton, that is a loose end. Every team in the Southland has a nonconference spot to fill in Weeks 3-9 as long as the present setup lasts. Bloom Township just filled theirs with Coal City.
Riverside-Brookfield joined that conference for one year but they left so they're back to 7. Last year was a mishmash of games, with Bloom Township never actually finding one and having an open week. This year:
Week 3: Bloom at Coal City (had no opponent)
Week 4: Kankakee at Normal Community (same as last year)
Week 5: Danville at Crete-Monee (same as last year)
Week 6: Thornton at Wilmington (played Moline last year, whose conference opponent reappeared)
Week 7: Champaign Centennial at Thornridge (played Geneseo last year, whose conference opponent reappeared)
Week 8: Stagg at Thornwood (same as last year)
Week 9: Lincoln-Way Central at Rich Township (same as last year)

Bloom-Coal City will be interesting. I don't know much about how Coal City will be next year but they are always tough and disciplined.
Thornton-Wilmington will be a bloodbath.
Kankakee-Normal will be the best game of all of these. As long as Kankakee doesn't lose too much of their roster.

I would consider Lisle football similar to JCA basketball. Both should never be in danger of not fielding teams.

It’s a whole lot easier to field a basketball team than a football team.

JCA has been great for decades, and have gone through multiple staffs.
Not to mention all the other factors. The difference between Lisle and JCA goes way beyond coaching. The best 3A teams/programs throughout the state would get destroyed by the Hilltoppers.

You get the wrong staff at any school, no matter tradition, it’s going downhill quick. You keep that wrong staff in place for ten years…well then lisle with the right staff would have a chance.

Yes comparing a small public school with next to no history of athletic success to the predominant private school is a great take.
