I hear ya, Gooms, but nobody is taking your memories from you...other than your advancing age!Am I the only one who is saddened by this news? I mean, it probably was inevitable but the memories,... dang.
Think of the new memories your current and future Dons will have. I, for one, am hoping that future alumni at LA and NDCP will be able to share memories of a more intense and meaningful rivalry between our two schools. I think of the dynamic that exists on the southside with alumni from MC, SR, Marist, Laurence, BR, etc., all mixing together in their local parishes and Western Ave watering holes and busting each other's chops about conflicting memories at parish men's club events or over beers at their favorite establishments. Now, imagine a similar dynamic developing between graduates from LA and NDCP at parishes like IC, Paul of the Cross, Juliana's, Brebeuf, SMOW, QAS, MSW, etc.
I feel like the LA/NDCP rivalry has been stifled by conference affiliation ever since both schools opened within two years of each other in Wilmette and Niles -- just four miles apart as the crow flies. I have long wondered what a LA/NDCP conference rivalry would look like, and I'm looking forward to watching it develop.
