Committed to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes today. It shows he was recruited as a WR. I guess his body is better suited to WR than RB?

Word out of Columbus is they want to use Kaleb in the same kind of way they used Curtis Samuel....slot receiver, jet sweeps, lining up in the backfield with the RB to create confusion on the D.
I always remember him as a RB so that makes sense. But they are extremely enamored with his pass catching ability. For those Reeters here is that a good assessment?

The slotting or labeling for skills is misused by fans and info services. The fact is, what I call west coast 2.0, high-production offenses see 6 ball handlers on offense regardless of position and dependent on the player’s talent and skill set. Obviously, the more talented and wider the skill set, the more desirable the prospect.
West coast 2.0 is replacing the strictly pocket passer with the mobile QB that can make pocket passes, and replacing the run blocking TE and FB specialists with faster options.
So gone are the days for most programs of the Ron Dayne 30 carry bell cow back, replaced by athletes that can carry the ball in between the tackles, carry it on jet sweeps, catch it out of the back field, catch it out of the slot and catch it on the outside up the field.
KB can do all of those and at an extremely high level and I am excited to see his career as a Buckeye.
It was my privilege to see this young man perform in his first Freshman game on a Saturday morning.

Jordan Anderson’s HS debut that day was incredible also. What a game even tho your Hilltoppers came out on top.

@Rock - excellent post on what you call “west coast 2.0”… I agree I think Brown can be used all over the field for ~7 touches a game maybe more if he balls out next level. OSU very good track record not only of skill position guys being drafted to the next level, but excelling. Fun pickup for fans.
Yikes. Forgot for a moment that it’s a real possibility. Just thinking about the Mustangs’ opening 3 opponents and coming out healthy with their playoff prospects intact was enough of a concern.
But yes, that would be a treat for HS football fans if that’s how the season shakes out for both teams.
Slotting or labeling isn’t a thing in Columbus. You can either play in the system or you can’t. My bet is that Kaleb will be just fine. If he doesn’t make it on the field then he will have a solid education and a system in place to help him succeed outside of FB. No doubt he’s a sharp, focused young man. Get after it, Kaleb....your table awaits.
