Lol I don't care at all. Like I said before though, you came in to an ESL thread and took shots at them, while praising CG, and telling ESL fans how they make every thread about themselves. Its quite ironic.
It was at this point, CG folks started talking. The first quote was "liked" by a couple of Flyers fans - not disputing it. Then the second volley ... then your drunken ass the other night. As someone said, there is a 6a thread - go blow your whistle there.
Yes, they did and that post was handled with a response. It should have been just left at that in my opinion however, its playoff time and comments will be made.
For the record, the person that post the thread about 6a was asking a legit question. Every year is a new year. Last year, Kankakee was the chosen team to beat ESL on the road to state and it was a lot of chatter about it. So far it's been quiet so he wanted to get the discussion started. Everyone is 0-0 so there is nothing to brag about.
I never come in here to pump up CG and believe there are other viable contenders. I may defend them but I’m not here crowning them. I’ll let the other fans do that.
I think people try hard to find a team that can give ESL a game in the playoffs or at least that is my IMO. Other than ESL fans no one wants to see a team plow through the playoffs and I actually think ESL fans don't want to see that either. I thought Kankakee could give them a game last year, I was wrong. I am not sure anyone will this year. They have far and away the most talent than any team in state and it seems to be clicking on all cylinders.

First it was that ESL is going to destroy CG like they did to Praire Ridge in 2022… great that’s fine, funny thing is you can’t say that about Cary grove so you have to mention another school/team. That they only won last year because they milked the clock, but some of you were congratulating CG last year when they beat you guys take the L, now this time of year you guys decide to throw shade at CG. I think you guys are upset that CG has 2 state titles crowned over you guys and it shows. ESL fans care more about losing 2 state titles. Doesn't matter who they lost to. It seems like CG fans care more that they beat ESL twice as opposed to ESL fans caring about losing to CG twice.
I've never seen a fanbase so happy to lose a game. This is just strange.
It’s a lot a negative energy directed at a team that respects football and its opponents like ESL. I know for a fact we respect CG and all teams win or lose. The narrative being pushed here is silly. Im glad the truth was finally said that some just simply don’t like ESL and that’s cool. But please respect us and the game.
When you win A LOT you don’t worry about losing. It comes with the territory. Winning teams know that!
I think we are all going to be left wanting ESL/LWE at the of this year.

On a slightly different topic. How does one get the invite to play in the Classic? I was just curious how St. Francis got involved, did they reach out, did ESL reach out, some type of coach's relationship somehow?

It's different for every team. It usually start with local teams and matchups are created from there. It possible, we always want to have a team from the Chicago area participate if it works for everyone. The matchups have been pretty fun.

Believe me, I got burned before the season started by a couple non CG guys who laid garbage on ESL that subsequently triggered a loose cannon who tried to label CG’s entire community as racist. Those 2 guys were nowhere to be found after I tried to defend. This banter should be fun and not animus. I’ll admit I push too far sometimes and can dial it back. It’s about the kids, not us.
Please don’t paint the views of one CG fan to the rest of the fan base.
To be clear I have never said CG is going to beat ESL and I’ve never said it in the past, CG has really proved themselves lately, only thing that bothered me was one you guys said that you guys were going to beat CG like yall did to Praire ridge… which I thought was funny using another team that’s not CG as an example , which by actual FACTS ESL hasn’t beaten CG. That’s all nothing more
It's safe to say the ESL enjoys several advantages in regards to football:
1) the greatest amount of talent in Illinois football (certainly 6A and below) based on college scholarship offers/signees/NFL players, etc.,
2) their HC is also their AD, this is huge if you understand scheduling, resources, etc.,
3) Nike Sponsorship (this is a true sponsorship, 100% free/reduced lunch program but 4 helmets, travel gear, top of the line jersey's, etc.),
4) ESPN endorsement to fly to big away games, which ESL uses as a selling point to lure 'recruits' out of St. Louis and rival schools,
5) incredible facilities,
With these massive, and I mean MASSIVE, advantages, ESL has won 4 state titles since the amazing run of Coach Shannon in the 70's/80's/90's, and two runner-ups. That, in itself, is impressive....now let's compare to some public schools that offer none of those advantages, like PR (3 state titles and 2 runner-ups) and CG (4 state titles and 2 runner-ups).
I understand the amount of love ESL gets, and most of it is warranted, but it's easy to see why one could say they are a massive underachiever.
