CS8 Playoffs Thread - Semi-Final Week - It's all about the U, baby!

Chatham is just running the ball.... 2nd and 1 3:54 in the 4Q deep in Crete side of the field. I have to give Crete credit because they didn't quit!!!!
That’s sounds like a cliche. Crete gets over hyped every year. Just saying if we’re talking about underachieving it’s the Warriors. I know people from Crete and it’s seems to always be the same story. I am not sure why.

My first experience with Crete was when we went up there in 2018 in a 1 pt loss. Lots of homecooking and loud, rabid fans and players.... I wonder what would have happened had we took advantage of the dozen missed op's and won.

I really like U-High’s odds against Olney, I still can’t get over their 2 point win over Mattoon, it just doesn’t sit well given the capability of U-High.

Yeah I'm confident U-High should be able to pull away against Olney. My gut says this is a running clock at half, but in fairness to Olney I'll say 48-13 final.

Where it gets interesting for the Pioneers is next week... Cahokia or Waterloo are both going to possess to the ability to test U-High's defense more than these first couple rounds.

These RPO teams are all alike. Its athlete vs athlete. Inside zone, outside zone or chuck it or rabbit... all the same. There won't be any surprises for any teams. So is Chatham better than Oak Forest? Is U-High better than Olney? We will see.

Seems to work for many, Timberwolf... I also don't see it changing any time soon. The idea of getting the ball in the hands of your best athletes isn't something I'd stop teaching, personally. But I'm not a coach... I do think U-High is better than Olney, but I'm not saying Olney isn't a good football team. Simply that they don't face "U-High" (or like them) often if at all during the regular season. U-High is going to spread it out and play backyard football. I like the brand, personally. It takes a good QB and offensive specialists that understand their assignments past just block that guy or run this route. It's going to be interesting nonetheless...

This week is taking forever, isn't it?

ALAH @ QND - Personally, I'm taking the homer pick, duh. But by how much? Idk.. Arthur is going to have a rather large chip on it's shoulder from a year ago. 4-5 QND took a few punches early last year in Round 1, then came out in the 2nd half swinging themselves. They were quite salty when the dust settled last year... And by "they" I mean the Knights. Will never forget the mom complaining to a police officer while leaving last year about "how dirty and physical" those Catholic kids were... 🤣 QND needs to avoid looking ahead to next week. The Macon County Condoms can wait...
QND 41 ALAH 20

Olney @ U-High - I can't convince myself at this time that Olney has a chance. I think U-High poses a real threat to the Tigers' defense, who to this point have seen otherwise pedestrian offenses by comparison with U-High's. With the exception of Casey-Westfield that conference of Olney's was pretty awful. I feel like we see this a lot, right? Team is the big fish in a small fish pond, they meet an average fish from a bigger pond and the average fish wins. You understand... moving on!
U-High 49 Olney 13

JCA @ SHG - Sorry Cycs... the good news is, next year you'll return a ton of talent and you'll still be below 5A for the playoffs. Hoorah!
JCA 42 SHG 14

Glenwood @ Oak Forest - I know next to nothing about Oak Forest other than I think it's where Kyle Funkhouser went to school. That's the type of name I just don't often forget. Anyways, football... I'll take the mighty Titans by two scores... IF the offense gets rolling. If they stall early like they have this year, ruh roh Raggy!

Watching the Arthur/North Mac game I see a very tough, hard nosed Knight team. It should be an interesting game but Da Raduha's should handle business.

End of the 1Q OF driving again... inside the Chatham 10 yd line. Bengals controlled the ball on their first drive for over 7 mins without scoring but they are moving now.
