The well of Bridgeport and Carnaryville that used to be the pipeline to De is running dry. They aren’t the same neighborhoods they once were as far as population with young families. I thought once the Metra stop went up at 35th that it might increase the Beverly/Mt. Greenwood crowd but it hasn’t been the case. MC, BR, SR and Marist just have too strong of a foothold in those neighborhoods and Laurence is starting to get some kids from there too. The biggest thing DLS can do is go after these athletes and flat out tell them they are highly likely going to play at DLS, while at the other schools they are going to be in a dog fight. Do you want to ride the bench or switch positions or do you want to be on the field.Sounds like a good hire, but how does DLS recruit better? Facilities are beautiful and cost is average. Just seems like they can never get the better kids away from the south side powers.
