I dunno....did we really have any real shockers? Maybe it;'s me or maybe I'm still recovering from two game today but sure some interesting games and results....but Round 1 (as usually expected) seemed pretty heavy favorite.

That due to the weather being so nice all fall a lot of teams did not have to deal with poor conditions. This revealed a lot of weaknesses that were unknown previously

I agree with N'Buck .Minook beating York in Elmhurst...also..how about Yorkville beating a good Plainfield Central team who beat the Foxes and Minooka during the season..

Taft 17, Palatine 14, mid 3Q.

But Taft deserves some bouquets. The QB Barah Abad had a really nice game throwing and running. Great athlete. Isaiah Cruz was a weapon on offense and Ryan Porebski was all over the place on defense. Nick Moleda hit a tough 36yd FG from the right hash, and drilled the ball out of the end zone on every kickoff.

I probably sold them short. We faced several CPS teams when I was involved at EP, but those were smaller programs. These guys had great size on the line and in the skill positions. They hit hard and played smart.

I came away totally impressed with the Eagles. Coach Zach Elder is doing a great job. Good luck to them in the city playoffs. I really hope they win the whole thing.

Agree Catch. They were very solid and well coached. Something brewing in Norwood park.

Palatine went super vanilla offensively and defensively, guessing to not give Neuqua Valley much to study. Didn't work for a while until the Offensive Line decided to take over the game in the third quarter. Whatever the reason, hope it gets them focused.

The final score of Springfield vs. Rock Island??? 🤷🏾‍♂️

I’m looking for a video just to witness it. I just can’t wrap my mind around the possibility of it.
This is from my Tuesday 6A Sleeper teams feature....

Class 6A's Best Opening Round game?

# 9 seed Springfield at #8 seed Rock Island
- Something just tells me that this game could see a ton of offense along with a ton of big plays. Springfield and veteran head coach Roy Gully, who earlier this week announced that he was stepping down after this season will get the football into the hands of one of the state's most electric playmakers in senior QB Rashad Rochelle (Rutgers). The Senators also have plenty of speed and big play potential. Rock Island and head coach Ben Hammer has had an up and down season but the Rocks also have plenty of weapons this season. RockIsland senior QB Eli Reese is a dangerous dual threat quarterback and also keep an eye on senior WR/TE Kai Rios and senior WR/S Marieon Anderson. Look for the scoreboard to be very active at Rocky Stadium this weekend.

Edgy, you were spot on. I wonder how Springfield will fair against Lemont.
