I didn't see a thread on this, but I know they are starting to come out.
SF has Kenwood week 1 again. No week 2 game yet or at least not released. I assume looking for a home game, they have 3 home games currently in 2025.

St. Laurence playing Chicago King week 1 and Evanston week 2. Both at home I believe. CCL schedule should mirror last years with locations flipped.
How do you feel about those first two games?

I suppose King is a step up from Noble Academy, but King and ETHS just ring rather hollow to me for Laurence.

I understand non-con scheduling is easier said than done, and you sometimes just have to take whatever you can get, but wouldn't it be great if Laurence could schedule some somewhat more local rivalry games? Reavis, obviously. Or Richards, LT, HC, HS, etc.? Or even some non-con games against other CCL/ESCC schools (see Rita vs Marist) like Ignatius, PC, Marian, Marmion, Viator, etc.? Thinking out of the box, how about Brother Rice from MI, thereby celebrating the shared Christian Brothers connection?

Love all those ideas. I know they did a home-away with Reavis a few years back. Evanston hopefully will be a better game this year as we blew them out last year. CPS is what it is. Unless you play one of the CPS big boys it’s a usually a tune up more than anything. Hopefully the Vikings continue their ascent and the non-cons can start to get more entertaining.

How about Stl/JCA. I was involved in some great games between those two back in the mid/late 80's. It was a nice little rivalry at that time.

Would love it. I know that was a season opener yearly tradition for a while. STL still has some work to do to get on JCAs level. Hopefully soon.

I guess so, not sure what the contract was. Maybe JCA canceled like Notre Dame did to NIU. 😀
Early in the season, my feel is that NC and Geneva will be better matchups for Oswego than JC. JC will be young and more unproven than at any time in the last 6-8 years. They could end up being quite good for all I know, but the first few weeks could be bumpy.

If Iowa City and Oswego are both expired contracts for JC, then I am hoping at least one of those first two weeks is cannon fodder or at least a program not any stronger than Iowa City. They will legitimately be underdogs in at least 4-5 CCL/ESCC games, so they need a win or two to open the year.

I think wins against Marist, MC, and Fenwick would be very difficult. Naz and PC could be toss-ups at best and trending toward JC being an underdog. If we are underdogs in 5 of 7 league games, I don't know that they can afford to schedule a team on Oswego's level in weeks 1 and 2.

Last year's team was way more experienced and talented and still needed one point victories over Marist and Fenwick to avoid being stuck at 4 wins.

This is the first year in a while where I’m really not familiar with the kids on Oswego. I know they lost a ton of talent this past year. They start the season, Naperville, Central Geneva, and Bolingbrook. That’s a tough start.

Geneva returning only 3 on offense and 5 on defense. Is Bolingbrook really the scary start they were once? Sorry Bones

I do believe there is a large amount of talent on Geneva's lower levels. I think their rising juniors will do real well, but yes it looks like a largely new varsity cast for the Vikings.

The Brook maybe not the program they once were, but they did have a few real good athletes, I think one defensive standout was a frosh, so I expect them to have enough difference makers to start making some noise soon even if they won't be your older brother's Brook.

Not taking a shot at Geneva, I just think they lose a lot of great talent that can't be easily replaced. I'm sure they will still be good, just not THAT good.

Oswego lost a great amount of talent too. I know they’re lower levels only lost one game. I’m sure the cupboard isn’t bare, but I’m not sure the ceiling will be as high as last year.

I was disappointed to hear ND backed out of the week 1 non conference game with
St Pats
Oh oh! Love some good rivalry fodder. Shame Oswego and JCA aren’t playing anymore either. Hasn’t that been a traditionally one sided rivalry in favor of ND? Why would they do that and how did they backed out? Did they break contract? Who are both teams playing instead?

It has been on ND side for over a decade. Not sure the reasoning, I was told St Pats has reached out a few times to ND to no avail.

Palatine was supposed to play Hinsdale Central week 1, but they backed out too. Bummed, it would have been a good game. They were able to schedule Rolling Meadows week 1, but that means MSL East crossover weeks 1 and 2 with RM and Prospect, and then CSL crossover weeks 3 and 4 with Maine South and Glenbrook South.

Brother Rice Michigan used to play CCL teams in the 80’s. I watched them play at Reavis vs St.Laurence & St.Rita, Chicago Brother Rice & Chicago Mt.Carmel I seen play them. Tim Chandler wanted to continue to play Reavis. It took an act of God for them to play each other. When Reavis even the series at 1-1 by beating the Vikings at St.Laurence they were happy with that & did not want to further continue to play them again. I talked to both high ups after that 2nd game. 1 was excited & wanted to play again while the other flat out said this was it but not again. They don’t play each other much in sports any more either which is sad. Some great baseball games & hoops too

Reavis had a good team that year they knocked off StL. I was at that game. The freshman and sophomore games were both blowouts though and that's why Reavis walked away because they knew it wasnt going to be a favorable matchup moving forward. Those two games were a huge deal locally with a lot of trash talk in Burbank.

I love both teams & came up each year from TN for them. Still got the shirts they sold!!!! Let’s not forget that both years Mother Nature especially in the first game was NOT kind!!!! I believe 84 was the first time they ever played each other in football. I was in 7th grade & walked with a bunch of my classmates down to Reavis after school to watch. We were met with St Laurence & Queen Of Peace students who walked down with us. It was a HUGE crowd I’ll never forget. They even opened the concession stand & made bank that day & they never opened it for JV games

I remember I think it was 79 the opener between them was supposed to be at Reavis but because of the massive crowd was moved to Joliet Memorial Stadium. Vikings ended up runner up in State & The Hillmen Prep Bowl runners up

2013: Varsity St.Laurence(4-5) 44 Reavis(5-4) 16. Reavis cried they should have played a CPS & that would have given them 6 wins & playoffs. JV game was called off as weather got them. Sophs: St Laurence 12 Reavis 7. Excellent game that was stopped 1/2 way in 3rd when Mother Nature went nuts. Frosh: St Laurence 41 Reavis 6

2014: Varsity. Reavis 36(8-3) St.Laurence(5-6) 18. The fumbled kickoff in the 3rd quarter turned the game. A lengthy delay to start the game as Mother Nature was angry again. Sophs: St Laurence 45 Reavis 0. JV. No game scheduled. The Vikes played Argo instead & won in a competitive game at Argo 16-8. Frosh: St Laurence 55 Reavis 0

2015 Reavis went 9-2 & St.Laurence 10-3. Would have been a nice matchup. Reavis & St.Laurence could have met in week 2. Instead Reavis destroyed Chicago Washington while St Laurence decapitated CVS which is less than 5 miles from Washington. Reavis opened by beating a good South Bend Indiana Adams team in the opener while St Laurence got blown out by a good Benet Academy team

'79 opener was at Gately.
The game that moved to JMS was a few years later and JMS then became the host site for the rivalry opener with teams switching home side & away side each year.
