All.... Instead of putting general information on the old CS8 2024 thread I figured start a new one for those that follow CS8 football on this board. A couple on non con updates. Jacksonville will host Highland week 1 Friday 8-29. A nice pickup for the Crimsons.

Rochester will not be playing Cardinal Ritter again in their week two game. The Rockets have filled that date and will be on the road at Mt. Zion Friday September 5th. Rochester will play at home week 1 against Gibson Southern out of Indiana on Saturday August 30 at 2pm. Rockets will be 2-0 as they enter the following week into CS8 East play. Ratsy

Thank Rat for that info. Personally I would like to see SHG follow Rochester's lead and drop CBC and at least attempt to find a different week one game. I don't see how getting your tail kicked 45-0 helps your team or the program. Maybe in past years this may have worked out, but they are a school of basically 500 students now and I think they would be better off finding a different week one game. Just my opinion and I'm sure there are others that feel differently.

All.... As of now that game is still on. Cycs at home at KL Stadium to open up. Cadets were just as impressive at the freshman and sophomore levels winning those games 54-34 and 54-28. Wall to wall players with size and speed even at those levels. Ratsy

All... Unlike SHG I don't know if the Cardinal Ritter/Rochester game was a two year agreement or just a one and done. Looking at the CR 2025 schedule they have only managed to schedule two teams so far. Like CBC they have trouble finding opponents willing to play them. Ratsy

Would be interesting to see one of those St. Louis privates play a CCL big boy to open the season.

All.... I did a quick search. The Lions played what I guess you could call mid enrollment big boys. JCA in 2021. Hilltoppers won that game 30-20 In 2019 the season the school had to eventually forfeit the games they had played CR opened up the season against Nazareth defeating them 32-21.

I didn't come up with anything on CBC . The nemesis for them in Illinois of course is public school ESTL. I believe they are 0-3 against the Flyers.

I mentioned this earlier in the year. Using Ihsa rules CR with an enrollment of 371 in Illinois would of ended up in postseason play as a small 4A. CBC all boys at 845 would be playing class 8A. The Lions I feel would really struggle against someone like Mt. Carmel (-8) or Loyola (-7) as well as other large enrollment CCL teams. Lack of depth would hurt. A split using calpreps with them playing JCA and Nazareth according to calpreps. Plus 3 with JCA and - 3 with Nazareth. Possible success against mid tier CCL teams.

Calpreps showed double digit losses to Mt. Carmel (10) and Loyola for CBC. (14) Using JCA and Nazareth on the next level preps has plus 7 with the Hilltoppers and -13 playing the Roadrunners. Cadets do have an enromous roster with tons of talent. I think they could hang with the Caravan or Ramblers for a bit of the game. Would love to see it happen and would attend regardless of the drive.... Ratsy

Are these confirmed games or open dates you are proposing?

All.... They are confirmed to the point of finding them on high school schedule sites. Games I find on these sites especially those in the distant future not always but at times do get switched for whatever reason. So I always add that caveat "subject to change "so the rodent doesn't get yelled at. Ratsy

Got it, interesting to see Batavia playing Rochester. I see the benefit for the Roch but not really for Batavia....

All.... Showing a two year deal as well. A (26) and H (27) for the Bulldogs. Rochester has quite a bit coming up from the lower levels in the next few years. How that translates in 26 and 27 is of course unknown. Fwiw below are the computer projections for 2024. Ratsy

Calpreps - Batavia 46 Rochester 20 (95%)
Massey - Batavia 42 Rochester 20 (82%)

Ritter lost in the semis - this was not one of their top teams. The big-swinger this year was Lutheran North, which beat 6A DeSmet handily.
