Impact Player for the Forreston Cardinals
Forreston senior OL/DL Hunter DeWall (6-foot-5, 215 pounds) is a multi year two way starter upfront for the Cardinals. The Cardinals had a young and inexperienced team in 2024 and DEWall is one of a handful of names who will be asked to provide leadership on and off the field this summer for Forreston.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Forreston Cardinals
Forreston and head coach Keyton Janicke is looking to bounce back from a rare down season as the Cardinals posted a 2-7 record last season and missed the IHSA state playoff field for the first time since the 209 season. Look for the Cardinals to rely on a solid group of seniors and returning starters 11 starters (6 offense 5 defense) to hopefully get back to the programs winning ways in 2025. Playing in the stacked NUIC conference week in and week out is truly a grind and being a team seeking more experience and seasoning in this monster conference is no easy task. Opening up against NUIC power Lena Winslow isn't an ideal opening week opponent but seeing how the Cardinal fare along with how they play in Weeks 2/3 and 4 will be worth keeping an eye on this fall.
The biggest question facing Forreston Cardinals this summer?
Was the 2024 season a one year blip for Forreston? The Cardinals had a losing record last season, the first losing season since 2009 and this program has posted losing seasons just twice (2009/2024( since the 1996 season. The point here is that I'm more than willing to give Forreston the benefit of the doubt and expect this very good and very proud football community to bounce back in 2025.
