EDGYTIM's Projected 2021 Spring Southwest Suburban Blue Conference finish
Lincoln Way East
Homewood-Flossmoor
Bolingbrook
Lockport
Sandburg
So Who is The One Team That Could Surprise? Lockport
The Porters have been building over the last year or two and head coach George Czart has the program believing. Lockport welcomes back an impressive 13 starters (including 8 on defense) and several up and coming names will also play a big role this spring. Lockport always has support in the community for football, has overall great numbers and it seems that the talent level is improving each year in the program under Czart. Can they take the next step and break into the Big 3? This is as close as the Porters have been in a long time and Week 3 in Bolingbrook can be a huge game.
Preseason Conference MVP's?
Homewood Flossmoor RB Sean Allen/Lincoln Way East senior S Matt Kordas/Bolingbrook senior ILB Tyler McLaurin- I've never been a pizza and a trophy kind of guy when it comes to these type of awards, but in all honesty no one in the Blue really stands out head over shoulders as a no brainer type. Instead? H-F RB Sean Allen (Illinois State) is the a top returning running back who is very capable of big things again this spring. Lincoln Way East S Matt Kordas (Bowling Green) is a grinder blue collar type of player and a leader/impact defender on the best team in the conference. Bolingbrook's senior ILB Tyler McLaurin (Michigan) is the conferences best all around player and returning defender along with being a major leader for the Raiders. Again this is no easy task....but I also feel good about all three names listed here.
Sleeper Player to Watch?
Bolingbrook senior QB Vinny Meschi (Grand Valley State) or Lockport junior QB Hayden Timosciek-
Bolingbrook senior QB Vinny Meschi has everything you'd want in a quarterbacking resume....except consistent varsity game film. Meschi has impressive size, physical tools and a strong and very accurate arm with impressive arm talent. Look for Meschi to have every chance to finally have a shot at showing off his enormous potential this spring and his overall development will be a huge key offensively for Bolingbrook. Lockport junior QB Hayden Timosciek has impressive size (6-foot-6, 210 pounds) and physical upside and ability, yet he's also not seen very many minutes at the varsity level. Look for Timosciek to gain valuable varsity reps this spring, and much like the rest of the Porters he could be prepping for a big breakout in the fall...if not sooner.
Top 2021 Spring Conference Games?
Bolingbrook at Lincoln Way East Week 1- We get to find out right away just how ready both the Raiders and the Griffins are this spring. Bolingbrook has talent on both sides of the football, but do they have the same depth to match up against East for four quarters? Can East find it's go to big play maker in Week 1 and be ready to go heard from the opening whistle?
Lockport at Homewood-Flossmoor Week 1- Lots of talk about the surging Porters program and rightfully so, yet people also need to remember leapfrogging the likes of the Vikings is no easy task whatsoever. H-F and Craig Buzea is coaching his last season for the Vikings and will be ready to go on opening night. The Vikings still have RB Sean Allen and a roster loaded with talent, yet Lockport also is starting to gain traction on the talent level race.
Lincoln Way East at Homewood Flossmoor Week 2- This game has become simply one of the best overall matchup s over the last several years in the Southlands. Look for both teams to be ready and to also make several important Week 1 to Week 2 adjustments.
