Biggest Question facing Coal City this fall? Can the Coalers reload in a handful of key spots and win the Illinois Central 8 conference this fall? Coal City will have a new head coach in longtime assistant coach Francis Loughran, who has been with the Coalers program for many years. Loughran replaces longtime AD and football coach Dan Hutchins who stepped down from the head coaching position this fall. Loughran is an alum of Coal City and the Coalers will make the transition easily to a new coach. Coal City always has talent in the program and expect them to reload and go this season.

Impact Player for Coal City: SeniorRB/LB Ashton Harvey. Harvey is a multi-year starter for the Coalers and will be asked to carry a big part of the offensive load this fall while also being a leader on both sides of the football.

EDGY's Quick Take on the Coal City Coalers: The Coalers have a great tradition and a winning program, including 9 straight IHSA playoff appearances and 20 appearances in 30 seasons. Look for the Coalers to again be at the top tier of the Illinois Central 8 conference this fall and also to become a team to watch in Class 4A.

Game to Watch this Fall? Week 3 versus Wilmington Easily one of the top overall traditional rivalry games played each season in Will County.
