ICE Playoffs Round 2

Once again Ole' Wilmatucky was spot on with his predictions. Let's see if the streak continues.

3A

#7 Eureka (9-1) @ #2 Wilmington (10-0) - While I do think that Eureka will be among the top 2 toughest opponents to date for the Cats (not saying much), I do not think this one will be close. Yes Eureka was toward the top of their 2A conference, I still do not see it as an extremely deep conference. Eureka beat the 'Tone......OK great it was a close one and as we already know the Devils were not that tough this year. I like JR and the boys to grind out the double wing and win by 3 scores. Wilmo 35 Eureka 14

4A

#7 Coal City (8-2) @ #15 Rockford (Boylan Catholic) (6-4) - RBC is going to be better than most 15 seeds that typically qualify. I think that despite being second in a pretty crappy ICE conference, CC is actually a pretty solid team. I get the allure behind RBC is that they are playing much larger schools, but lets be honest, they were still one win above .500 in the regular season. RBC is in a closed conference with some not so great teams. If they were 7-2 or 8-1 come end of season I would be a little fearful for the Coalers, but I like the ICE in this one. Close score, but CC is in control. CC 28-RBC 20

I agree with what DR. D said last week. Peotone losing really boned Wilmo for a home Semi game. Not that I think they have a chance anyway, but it would have been fun.

Richards 42, Washington 14

Myles Mitchell scored on a 72-yard run on the third play from scrimmage as host Richards rolled. He later scored on runs of 1 and 54 yards. Mitchell finished with 213 yards on 22 carries. Emmanuel Mahonie scored on a 33-yard fumble return on Washington's first possession and Richards was up 14-0 approximately 2 1/2 minutes into the game. Ladarrius Foster scored on a 38-yard run and Noah Escobedo threw a 20-yard TD pass to Milan Mosley.

Richards' defense looked very good, finishing with six sacks.

Feeto's Friday Upset Special....

Week 2 of the playoffs and things are getting interesting. Not a ton of Upsets in week 1 which is the norm. Let's see what happens from here out. This week's upset is, the unranked Blackhawks of Aurora West over the perennial powerhouse, 6 time State Champion and #13 ranked Hawks of Maine South. I'll admit to knowing nothing about West Aurora before this week, but I really like what I'm learning. These guys score lots and lots of points, and don't give up any. Coach Nate Elmer has got his team doing everything right. They have a Jr QB, Mason Atkins who appears to be a dual threat stud. He has 3 quality receivers, and that means lots of points. M.S. switched to Soph. QB Jameson Purcell mid season, and have played fantastic football with him taking the snaps. It's going to be a high flying game in Park Ridge tomorrow afternoon. Final score..... West Aurora 45 - Maine South 35. That's this week's upset. What are your thoughts and who is your upset?
