GAME: Flyer Grounds Rambler 34-7

Will RamberStream happen again this year? I remember they have a good rep for putting on a fine production.

Will it be available for immediate post-mortem streaming? My girls are in town and we will be busy. (Meeting Twin B's boyfriend this weekend ... an EE and he looks like he has no one in his gene pool who has ever played organized sports.)

Rochester 35 @ Chicago Simeon 14, Final

1:30 Start. RHS punts after 3 and out on 1st possession. Same for Simeon.

RHS 2nd Possession: Jacobs TD called back on questionable Offensive P.I. call. Lots of flags...very sloppy play. Officials calling game tight! Stanton 37 yd. Td catch. Defensive penalty leads to Rockets going for 2. 4 play drive, 68 yds.

Simeon 2nd poss.: bad snap on punt. Rockets takeover inside Simeon 10 yd. Line.

RHS 3rd poss.: 24 yd FG good. 11-0

Simeon 3rd poss: Bad punt snap again. RHS takes over at Simeon 3 yrd line.

RHS 4th poss: End of Q1

Very messy Q1...lots of penalties, bad snaps on Simeon part, lack of effective Red Zone punch on RHS part.

Gift for the Argo Johnny Rain Cloud Poster: Argo Fightin Corn Products 45 -DeLaSalle 0

Nothing like the smell of the Argo Corn Products plant in the morning gentlemen after a win. Interesting score. I was wondering if the Johnny Rain Cloud who use to come out of the wood work and blast Argo all those years is still around? If so, sit back take it all in, maybe have yourself some pierogies washed down with a Modelo while you play Journey's Don't Stop Believin.

Saturday AM Poll Vibes....

Chicagoland Top 30- Dropping in my eyes after last night

Hersey Will most likely stay in the Top 30 since Warren is a very good team but losing Logan Farrell this summer for the season was a big red flag.

Palatine Yeah I just didn't see it last year from the Pirates either.... to be fair STCN is a good team but they will most likely drop out of the 30

Lake Zurich- Wow did not see this lopsided of a loss

8A

Maine South won't move down much despite the loss to LWE

Palatine- out

7A

Mount Carmel- played and lost a close game to an FCS school (sorta) depending upon Edwardsville/Glenwood result most likely remain at #1

Hersey- 50-50 right now on them in or out

6A

Providence- Bad loss for them especially with it's remaining schedule. Wheaton North is a tough team every season

Lake Zurich- out

Crete-Monee out

5A

Sterling- out and to be fair the Sterling Loyalist tried warning me.

SHG Out but CBC is a strong OOS opponent

4A

Murphysboro- surprise los to Carbondale out

Feetos Friday Upset Special....

Welcome to another year of Upsets. I think this is my 20th year of this thread, and it's still a blast every week. Picking Upsets is complicated, and often debated. It's based on many things like rankings, records and common sense. To open the season I'm going to put one out there that some may say is "not an upset", but if you check every avaliable line, it must certainly is. This week's upset is......... The Mustangs of Morgan Park over the Redhawks of Marist. Gambletron and every prognosticator out there has Marist on top in this one, but I think not. Chris James is one of the best coaches in the state, and he has an incredible staff around him. The Mustangs return an amazing QB in Marcus Thaxton and they've brought in one of the states best receivers with Nisir Rankin. They have a load of D-1 talent on both sides of the ball. Marist will be really good this year. Néw Coach Mike Fitzgerald certainly proved his worth with the turnaround of the football program at York these past few years. The Redhawkskins have some monsters on that D-line, but that won't be enough tomorrow. Final score...... Morgan Park 37 - Marist 28. That's this week's upset. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

WB6 Week 1

Praise be to the football gods! Week 1 is finally here! Time for the town to shut down, the lights to be bright, and memories to be made. Good luck to all the teams this season!

Metamora at Sterling: Last year Sterling blew a halftime lead to lose 28-17. In the second half, Metamora would move the ball, chucks at a time and stonewall Sterling’s offense. To start the season, Sterling will be a bit of an unknow coming into the season but I imagine they will want the ball in the hands of Senior Kaedon Phillips who should be an all everything athlete for the Warriors. Metamora will have their own all everything athlete in junior Jaiduan Cranford who has blink and you miss it speed. Both these teams are traditionally the punch you in the mouth type so I could see this being a moderate scoring affair as both offense attempt to slog their way down the field. I think it will be a close game, but I’m giving the edge to Metamora’s experience and size.

Prediction: Metamora by 1.

Galesburg as Dunlap: Last year this game started close until Galesburg fell apart and Dunlap raced out to a 53-14 win. This year, Galesburg has to travel to Dunlap to start the season. Galesburg had a rough summer, having to replace their head coach and is trying to establish who their playmakers are. Dunlap is always a solid team and I don’t think this game will see a large change from last years games as I expect Dunlap to wear down the Silver Streaks and pull away after halftime.

Prediction: Dunlap by 28

Fenton Rockwood Summit at Moline: First time match up! Moline starts the season off with out of state Fenton which is right outside of St. Louis. Fenton has been a super solid program the past three season with double digit wins and wins in the playoffs. Moline starts the season a very experienced squad with many starters back from last year. Big key to this game will be if Moline can get its physical Wing-T offense going and control the game clock as it looks like Fenton is a team that can score and score quickly. Playing on the grass surface of Browning Field should help the home team so I seen them winning a close, physical game.

Prediction: Moline by 3

Quincy at Quincy Notre Dame: Last year this one wasn’t even close as Bradyn Little threw for 300 yards and 5 TD’s in a 55-12 route of their intercity rival. Sorry Raiders’ fans, Little and all of his friends are back for one more year so I don’t see this game being any closer than it was last year.

Prediction: Quincy by running clock

Minooka at Rock Island: Last year this was a 41-7 beating delivered by Minooka. At the end of last season, Rock Island was starting to put everything together and returns a lot of experience in year two of coach Fritz Dieudonne’s playbook. I still think Minooka will win this football game, but I expect the Rock’s to give Minooka a much stronger test than last year. A good showing here will be a good spring board for the Rocks.

Prediction: Minooka by two scores.

United Township at LaSalle-Peru: Last year LP dominated on both offense and defense in route to a 34-14 win. This year, both teams come into this match up more green than they want to be. UT has to replace 3 year starter Matthew Kelley and LP will start Freshman Marion Persich. LP does return some experience on defense which could be the game breaker Friday night. I can see a low scoring affair as both teams attempt to figure out moving the football, but in the end LP’s defense will see them through.

Prediction: LP by 7

Chicago Comer at Geneseo: Last year this was a 56-0 tune up game for the Leafs and I expect much of the same here. Geneseo has a new head coach and it looks like they are returning to their under center way on offense. Geneseo has a lot of new kids to break into Friday night football and this will serve a good way for them to do that. I think the game will start slow for Geneseo as they figure out their varsity legs but once they start clicking, I see a rout starting.

Prediction: Geneseo by running clock
