WSC Silver Flexed Again

3 teams in the Quarters for the first time in who knows how long, and DGN battled tough for 3 quarters. I like 2 of them to get to the semi's after this weekend.

GBW - I think their offense will be too much for MS to handle
York - Incredible season led by stud QB, and a defense that is extremely physical
LT - tough matchup against LA, but this team fights every week

Week 11 CCL/ESCC RockSoup® Prediction Thread

Congratulations to the 11 CCL/ESCC teams moving on to the second round. Let's get 10 into the Quarterfinals. With the 2022 Holy War II happening in New Lenox Saturday, 10 is the max that can move on. I need 10 to move on. The site is lovely during those type of weeks and pump those threads right into my veins.

Welcome to our Prep Bowl playoff teams, giving us a total of 12 games for an available 12 points. Thank you to these players, coaches and programs playing for honor, tradition, love of the game, upholding grandfather clauses and heck, get yourself some more video for your futures while playing for those other important concerns.

Remember to get your LEO/DLS picks in before Thursday 6pm if you want a chance at that point.

CS8 Predictions Week 11

The CS8 has gone from 5 playoff teams last week to two this week with Chatham, Jacksonville, and MacArthur having been eliminated. Both games are Saturday.

4:30 #5 Breese Central (8-2) at #4 Rochester (9-1)
Any team who saw the first half of Rochester-Effingham game last week would not be scared to take on the Rockets. Four turnovers and way too many penalties for this time of the season. Confusion on the substitutions. The defense really stepped up and shut down Effingham down completely, except for two short field TD drives after turnovers. I expect a big bounce back this week on what will likely be the final home game of the year. While Effingham plays a 4A-5A schedule, Breese plays a less impressive 2A-4A schedule. Breese has lost to 2A non qualifier Mater Dei and 4A Columbia. Their 21-18 win over Mt Zion last week was their best win of the season. They have not allowed more than 28 points in any game. Expect the Rockets to exceed that total Saturday. Rochester 49 Breese 7.

5:00 #2 SHG (10-0) at #10 Waterloo (7-3)
Not sure why the kickoff has changed from 2pm to 5pm. Waterloo won big last week at Olney 76-28. They have played a much stronger schedule than Spring Valley and will offer more of a challenge. Their three losses were all to playoff qualifiers: 4A Columbia, 5A Triad, and 5A Highland. Highland, who could make a deep run in 5A, won 49-10 in Week 7. Waterloo’s best win was over 5A qualifier Mascoutah. They have a strong running attack and will likely try to drain the clock and keep the ball away from SHG. The Waterloo defense gave up several long TD passes to Olney last week. Their secondary could be in for a very long evening against the SHG passing attack. A big and noisy crowd for the home team should be expected. However, that shouldn’t have much impact on the veteran dominated SHG. The Cyclones should win handily. SHG 57 Waterloo 13.

Round 2 and the Wind

Yesterday was the windiest day of football I can ever remember seeing. Anyone got anything worth sharing from their game involving the wind?

At Batavia yesterday, Batavia was averaging roughly 5 yards a punt. So, they scrapped punting all together and went for it every fourth down…even deep in their own territory. Their last punt attempt came with them on their own 1yd line w about 1min before half. A few of us were discussing just taking a safety as they were probably about to give Hersey the ball on the 10yd line. A bad snap resulted in a safety.

On Batavia‘s ensuing KO the ball went 12 yards in the air and bounced back to Batavia and they retained the ball. Never seen that happen before. Hersey would have had the ball on the 50, with the wind and a minute on the clock w all the momentum. Instead Batavia ran out the clock.

Which reminds me, is that the right call? Ball hit 12 yards in front of the KOR team. KO team didn’t touch it and KOR team recovered it at 8 yards. Legal?
