HOT CPL Thursday Action Week 2

Coach Perry himself told me so.
Co-Op can happen. its coaching ego first. AD to coach: hey you want to co-op? Coach: No, we're better than them/he can't coach/who gets CPS stipend/etc. In Fall teams forfeit or has 15 players. Moving to 8-Man needs to be a conversation by CPL athletics, history matters, its the same teams. Every team ( statewide too), doesn't have to force the issue to get a team. Also its gangs in the schools that do not Co-op

What brings you here?

You probably were on the team but didn't win a state championship. That's okay. You must have gotten the cheerleaders if not the trophy.

I hated being so skinny back then. If I had it to do over again, I'd quit smoking and take up track. I don't know about other schools, but in the '60s MC let us smoke in the cafeteria.
We could smoke in the senior lounge at Loyola or in a specified area outside. Hell, there were ashtrays in my college classrooms!

What brings you here?

I started here in 2002 when I was going to every Driscoll game during their 7x championship run.

Then my old high school went on a long run at Montini to win 6 titles.

Then my old neighborhood team Naz went on a run.

I caught Edgy fever during all those years and where do I go for Edgy Anonymous to get it out of my bloodstream??

I went from watching Tim Weigel's helicopter to a few games on Friday's to Bob Sakomoto to Edgy.

Or something like that.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

Buffoon, on the MC/SR game, you have the score as a push and the spread by St. Rita. Where you put your spread is your pick I assume as it corresponds with your predicted score 99% of time except per the example above.

Then there may be a time when you don’t place a spread by a team ie WSF vs Lol MO. game but your predicted score tells me you pick WSF to cover.

Not bustin chops, your write ups and score predictions are gold but just asking beforehand for clarity to make my Sunday count easier and more accurate.

Thanks Mr. Buffoon
Mr. Soup, I appreciate your response. I take this as friends helping friends.

The WSF game is me just not even knowing 99.8% of out of state teams, but I should just be an Illinois snob and take our teams to cover no matter what!

And yes, I noticed I picked a push in the MC/SR game. I'm going to make an adjustment.

I hope you will be in a stadium somewhere in this state tonight on what's supposed to be a PERFECT football evening!

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week II

That’s 4 interconference nocon games. Is it difficult to get a public to agree to a game these days?

CCL/ESCC (Blue)
BR - whoever was getting points, I was taking
MC
Fenwick
- lock of the week. Why? Because they should win outright.
GW

CCL/ESCC (Green)
ICP - what are we even doing here? So soft.
Kenwood
SF

CCL/ESCC (Orange)
Oswego - if this was @ JCA they wouldn’t stand a chance
LWC - and I’d also like to take the over
ND

CCL/ESCC (Purple)
SV
DePaul

Larkin - 28 seems like a lot of points for SP to put up, let alone cover
Moline

CCL/ESCC (Red)
Noble Academy - some class by Marmion is the only reason they don’t cover
Amundsen
HF
- okay maybe this one is the lock of the week. You’re allowed to have two locks.

CCL/ESCC (White)
SL - the game will be closer than the score.
Hillcrest
Carmel
- there will be a point in the game where they should call off the dogs, and I don’t think they will.

If I remember correctly, during my freshman year(1984) at Joliet Catholic, there was a senior lounge, where the seniors could smoke. Maybe some older Hilltoppers could confirm. It was no longer there by my senior year.

What’s up with Bolingbrook?

I also think its important for coaches to put the players in a position to be as successful as possible. For example, if you have a newer (younger) QB, keep the play calling within his natural ability. Don't overcomplicate things. Don't have your student athletes confused on the field about the play, route, responsibilities, etc.
I don't know if that is the case at The 'Brook, but I've seen it at other schools. Just because an energetic and enthusiastic coach has a playbook catalogue with 200 pass plays doesn't mean a 15 year old will always retain that knowledge.
Bolingbrook has such a rich history of being successful. I remember having only27 of 28 winning seasons at one point. So to have that much drop off in such a short period of time is perplexing.

Week 2 Clown Cup Games

9- Batavia
8- Geneva
7- Lake Park
6- St Charles North
5- WWS
4- St Charles East
3- Lockport
2- Maine South
1- Glenbard North

3 blowouts and a lot of close games this week. LT/ WWS is probably the best match up of the bunch, LT has a very good running back that will test the Tigers. Will also be interesting to see if GBN can get to 2-0 after last years horrible season.
